That is true, people do do that, but it isn't really their fault, in a way. It's how people are taught to drive, and if they don't know any better, that's what they will consider to be "correct".

I have long suspected that this driving style is why people find they like diesels, as they feel pokier than the equivalent petrol if driven in such a manner.
