There are a lot of bright blues becoming popular - Audi, Merc, BMW, Ford.
The BMW blue is very nice.

I think this looks much better

The problem is that I wear jeans a hell of a lot. Cream leather and denim are NOT a good match.
Likewise.....especially if you wear proper original denim rather than the cheap modern pre-washed crap.

That's nice - very similar to the "Deep Crystal Blue" of my Mazda - but not exactly a bright blue.

My first 3 cars were red, white and red in that order,

Since then they've all been silver. Not directly through choice, but simply down to being the car I wanted at the price I wanted when I wanted it. Colour isn't really a consideration

Blame the new car buyers, not us second hand lot

Why is standing out seen as a bad thing in Britain?

You could mistake the 1st picture for a picture of our works car park. Grey, Black, Red and dark Blue. It's why I got my car redone in Purple

As nice as it is, after looking at pictures these are both better described as 'black'. Similarly there are an awful lot of car colours which would be better described as 'silver'.

It's odd that car colours are going this way...

Yet for so many things these days companies are going out of their way to offer customization to customers. This, for example, is my bike:

I wasn't exactly short of options either, if I could think of it there was a manufacturer who had it pretty much off the shelf right here in the UK.
That is Horrific..... but I Love it!

You raise a good point though, bright colours seems to be the 'in' thing many areas at the moment. Other posters are saying people don't like to stand out, that might be true to a degree, but I'd argue less so than ever before. Does peoples increasing individualism really just stop dead at cars? I'm not so sure, car styling, so long as we ignore high end stuff, has become more interesting in recent years and when a manufacter makes a big deal of their colour range, think Fiat 500, lots of people seem to take advantage.

I don't think you should be allowed to buy a CTR, Focus RS etc in black, white or grey.

Unfortunately the buying public get little choice in this matter...

Focus RS

CTR

Colour is fine as long as want blue (red if you're lucky). Can't believe they never kept the green or offered Tangerine Scream for the Focus.

Because people here are uniquely odd.

That bright blue on the RS looks good, every other colour makes it look boring.

Over the last 13 years I've had four cars, all silver. Result.

I've got two (push)bikes and a frame waiting to built up - all black.

My two kids' bikes are black.

My OH's bike is grey.

Happily monochrome household.

Of all people Craig David said it best in an interview once.

He was living in America and said he owns a convertible yellow Ferrari because in America you are proud of what you've achieved and want to show it off/stand out.

If it was in the UK it would have been a black coupe to blend in.
I think it's more to do with the fact America has a lot more show off types than the UK, and he was just following suit!

Car choice & colour does tend to mirror a person's level of arrogance and extrovertness though I find.

I like black cars. Hides the shut lines better and looks ace when polished up. The fact so many other folk like black just means they have equally good taste smile

We are British - we are generally restrained. Foreign cultures are often more ‘shouty’ than us who are - on the whole - a modest bunch.

I honestly don't care what colour of car I get... I buy on condition/history. If I was buying brand new though I'd make sure it was bright! Thinking of resale value is a horrible way to live. It's like with my phones, I never have covers because I want to enjoy it while I own it, sod leaving it even minter just for someone else to enjoy!

I've had a bright yellow Punto GT3 and a bright blue CRX but currently have a grey MINI.

All thinking of the resale value rather than buying the colour they actually want.
That is not totally true. Most people lease and dont give a fk about colour. So what is the problem? What choice is there outside of white, grey, black, silver, blue, red? Not much and even if there is there is usually a pricey premium to pay for it and even then they are not very nice colours.

Some of the choices over in the US are gorgeous and are usually provided as standard. If more manufacturers provided it then it would be choosen

Deep navy has to be a Mk1 Zafira on mis-matched, nearly bald, Ting-Tong Ditchfinders, with a 'powered by fairy dust' sticker on the back. One for the council thread.
