One more rare option that's just popped into my head, is built in children's booster seats in the rear seats.

Seen them advertised and in brochures a few times, but never actually seen a car that they've been specced on.

Have seen these on an E39 5-Series.
They were first introduced by BMW on E34 5 Series; I did chase around to find a set to retrofit them for my daughter but by the time a set popped up for sale she had grown out of them!

The E34 also has the Alpina addition digital display which is fairly rare in the UK; it shows oil pressure, oil temperature, Switch-Tronic gear selection and rear differential oil temperature...

E24 man, do the additional digital displays dim and brighten in line with the normal display on your E34?

ISTR on one of the Alpina 3s ( B6 3.5S? ) it remained resolutely bright even if you dimmed the normal dash lights

.

Yes, they do dim and brighten on the same control circuit. They can do this as they are backlit LCD rather than the non-dimming LED additional displays of the E24/28/30 era Alpina cars.

Incidentally, the displays such as mine are quite common and indeed necessary on E36 Alpina's with Switchtronic gearboxes. They were also offered as options and after-market fitments for E32's as well.

Flappy paddle gearbox on a diesel W203 C class. Mine is the only one I have ever seen with it fitted.
