On a similar note, my departed GTS.

Painted (exterior colour) air vents. Car was a demo. I would not spend £800 for this!

Ditto seat backs and seat hooks in leather (£1000), Carbon Illuminated Door sills, £800 odd.

Some of their options are rare for sure. I know people often have the extended leather interior to the dashboard or the extra door leather.. But leather trimmed seatbelt fasteners, steering column etc..

Would be pretty cool to have every piece trimmed in leather, but I wouldn't want to be the person paying for it!
The leather heater vent option always baffled me:

Rear air con on the Disco 2. Very rare option and extremely useful if you spend a lot of time in a hot country.

Noticed the factory window blinds on an e39. I had these on a 4.6 X5 but you certainly didn't see many around.

£800 for the vents to be painted in body colour, like a chav would do with a rattle can on his Saxo, makes the carbon sills look like great value!

I like the leather seat backs though.. As expensive as they are, I much prefer full leather seats to the silver or painted backs.

Exception being buckets that come in carbon fibre cool

I have a Discovery 2 and wish it had this option.

Especially with a recent 3rd child which means my oldest (6 years old) now spends most of his time in the third row where the front aircon struggles to reach.

My old 197 seemed to confuse people.

It had a factory optional extra of a panoramic sunroof, I actually had someone say in front of me at a car show a few years ago 'he must have fitted the 197 bits to a 1.2, you can't get a sunroof on those sports'

In the 4 years I owned it I must have come across 3 others with it. One at a car show in 2014, a twin to mine on the A3 a few times and a LY one that someone I know brought.

Just thought to add it also had TPMS no one else's 197 seemed to have that. Every time I mentioned it I seemed to get asked how I had that (mine was a January 2007 car so very early version that seemed to end up with everything it could have bar recaros and cup which weren't available at that time)

Cooled seats seem like an awesome option...I believe Insignias had these as an option for the drivers seat for a short while, certainly in SRI trim.
I've got cooled seats on my Mondeo Ecoboost 240, standard fit though not an optional extra. I find the sensation of a cool ring piece a bit peculiar tbh.

I keep seeing the headlights that turn a bit with the steering wheel as options for various cars, never met anyone who's had them fitted (or at least said they've had them fitted...).

I recently had a test drive in a BMW 335d M-Sport which, being a demo, had loads of stuff added on. Including a Head Up Display. What a distracting, irritating piece of zero-value-add nonsense. And only £825 as well.

This must be a rare bit of spec. Mustn't it?

Funny you think that.... live with it and pretty soon you'll wonder why every vehicle doesn't have it.
I had a C6 Corvette with HUD and it's one of the main things I miss about the car.

Didn't know they came from the factory like that.

My R33 GTS-T has a moveable front spoiler with buttons on the dash, first came out on the R31 apparently and very rarely seen on a R33 smile
Got a picture of the front splitter and dash controls? Be interested to see the setup as a fellow 33 owner.

Sorry that would've been helpful, I was trying to find out more about it as I need to get a new switch for it, so here is my SAU thread about it including pictures & the reply (along with a R31 promo video which is the nuts lol)

Having never driven a car with cooled seats, what are we talking, barely noticeable or chilly balls?

On a scale of barely noticeable to sperm freezing, it sits somewhere in between. If you wear thick jeans, it's barely noticeable but thin suit trousers, it's more effective. It's certainly not powerful like heated seats.

Ski Sock and Glovebox Fridge on the B7 RS4.
Mine had the Ski Sock but not the fridge, unfortunately.
