I'm looking for something refined!...and stumbled upon this old PH thread...

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Most of the car though are 'large' ...7 series, S class, etc

These are probably a bit too big for out needs and was looking for suggestions for 'mid-size' vehicles, more 3 series size really, but with the refinement as well.

Any suggestions please?

10-15k would be good, maybe up to 20k

Although I've just spotted the Lexus RC and like the look of that; seem to start at about 30k though!

Cheers smile

Citroen C5 with the airmatic suspension is very comfortable, probably a bit low-rent for most though.

Not really 3 series size though, are they?

I don't think you get the same refinement as a 7 series or S class in smaller cars, as the smaller cars are considerably cheaper. That level of luxury seems to go hand in hand with the big barge type car.

Thanks for the replies chaps smile

We'd looked at the XF, but think probably a bit too big really.

Any suggestions as to what's going to be the most refined in the class size below?...Lexus GS?...Audi A5?...4 series?

Cheers

Try a new Gen Mazda6 lovely things, nice ride, good handling and refined in a Japanese way & probably in budget these days too. Prompted by the Mazda under the radar thread.

I owned one until a few months ago. Great to drive, room for family, engaging and direct when you want it to be (albeit could use more power)... But refined? Na. Sorry. OP, refinement and big cars go hand in hand precisely because the cars are big. Long wheelbase, more space and room for sound deadening, plusher materials, larger comfy chairs etc.

On the smaller wheels / tyres they might be alright. Neither Audi nor BMW are known for their comfortable ride these days though.
