It certainly looks to be done well and has obviously had a serious amount of money spent on it however it does nothing for me.

It's a "meh" from me also.

I'm no VW fanboi, and I'm generally not keen on barry type mods. However, despite risking derision, I thought this looked fantastic. I guess it's on airbags and can be lifted for normal driving! Lack of front number plate also an issue for discussion...

What is the PH consensus? Ready for a flaming... biggrin

Obviously lives in a bedroom at his mum's house. Before anyone starts crying I don't have an issue with that.

I'm more worried about the different tone in fence panels due to sun fade also that wall is cracked.

Why do you feel this assumption is relevant? Do you look at every car and instantly start to presume their financial situation?

I can understand aesthetic changes and it's all a subjective thing - each to their own.

What I cannot understand is when the mods detract from the capability of the car; practicality or performance. This would impact both negatively, would they not?

I like it for what it is. Someones managed to turn a relatively boring grey, presumably diesel Scirocco, into something interesting, and to my eyes, good looking.

Heavily modded dubscene. Check.

Sorry it just screams adult living with his mum still to me.

So yes I feel 'my assumption' is relevant. When I see a stanced mk1 MX5 I think 'why mess with its handling'? Am I allowed this thought or should I tread carefully incase you get shouty?

It's got presence for sure - without knowing anything about how it was engineered and in the absence of any claims for it, I'm not going to deride it. (Oooh, that was almost a pun wink )

I am a fan of the Mk3 Scirocco, I think its a very nice looking car and I am a fan of the VW scene in general, especially the classics like Mk1 and Mk2 Golfs. Having said that, this latest 'wheels and airbags' style often goes slightly too far, the drop and tyre stretch on the rear just doesnt look right and even though its on airbag suspension and can be lifted for convenience, I bet it looks daft when it is lifted and on the roll.

Still, the new Scirocco is all about looks really so if someone wants to modify theirs like this then crack on.

Only a mong would spend money to ruin their cars handling like this.

I'd like to see it at 'Normal' ride height and on correctly sized tyres, but I quite like it.

Oh and I love OZ rally(e) style wheels.

Some people don't care about that, so long as it still works and drives.

It's like when someone builds a fancy garden full of flowerbeds. Great for sitting and chilling out in, or tinkering with as a hobby. But nobody calls them a mong who "ruined" it because you haven't got space to kick a football about anymore.

It's not to my taste but that actually looks concept car cool to me. It's no doubt someone's pride and joy and far more tasteful than some of the junk you see on here. Good luck to the chap (or chapess) for creating it rather than just sitting in his room texting pictures of his knob to 16 year old girls on Facebook

My instinct is to immediately look down my nose at anything that is obviously on 'air' like this. I have to admit though, it has a certain charm mainly on account of being pretty stock other than wheels/ suspension. It also appears to be done to quite a high standard and no doubt required some skill/ knowhow to put together.

My main gripe as it seems to be with many other PHers is that any 'handling' the standard car had is likely ruined due to the suspension mod.

It's been a long time since I paid any attention to this kind of modification, and I'm assuming that air/ hydraulic type suspension still ruins the cars handling just as much as it did back in the Max Power era? Maybe there have been advances and it's no longer the huge compromise/ detriment it once was- would be happy to hear if I'm simply out of touch with this tech...

It's most definitely a mod/ look for those <30y/o imho. Smacks of a young chap who may indeed still live at home with parents. I can't see many 'professional' people being inclined to drive around in a 'slammed' car... probably just indicates that at the ripe old age of 34 Im too concerned with my own image/ perception to 'get it'.

Having said all that, I'd still be quite happy to drive eg. a lowered 90s Jap performance car without feeling like a tragic old man trying to be 'down with the kids'. So long as the car has some real 'performance' credibility I don't mind it being low/ obviously modified. Joe Public may not make the distinction, but a mkiv Supra on good coilovers is a very different proposition to a (possibly diesel) FWD VAG hatch on air.

If the driver is early/ mid 20s, he may have actually built a pretty 'cool' car for himself. When I was that age I still liked cheap bodykits and big exhausts...
