Mine were made with tinted Perspex so I swap them for proper ones at MoT time. Yes, I know, I'm a criminal ...
In my defence, it is on a car that did 75 miles between MoT`s last year.

Numberplates on the dash annoy me. Makes the car look unfinished.
So just swap them at the show...

Couldn't you then put on a genuine show plate!?

See my previous answer laugh
I do want to get some of the original New Beetle showroom plates sometime though.

Had my plate on my dash for over two years after having the front end repainted, whilst its not ideal I fail to understand why people get so butt-hurt about it?

On PH there is a large clique of posters for whom any slight deviation from their declared rules of what they consider acceptable in terms of your car's looks, where you park it and how you drive it mean you are given the moniker of 'tt' or whatever their current flavour of the month insult is. The rest of us just get on with enjoying life.

Because it's very easy to conceal a number plate that's on a dashboard in a hurry if you want to hit and run.

It's hardly a DIY challenge to anyone to mount a number plate.

So a minor variation on Captains of the Road then.

So everyone with a plate in their dash is of low moral standards and would adopt that approach in the event of a collision? What about the rear plate?

I didn't say it was a challenge, I just explained how it got there.

Isn't one thread full of wonderfully interesting personalities doing a public service of photographically documenting every plate they see with a slightly outside of the norm characteristic and helpfully allocating the drivers of said vehicles to one of a number of categories including chav, drug dealer, yoof, wker etc. enough?
But then,
what on earth would you do with nothing to complain about and nobody to shout at?

You could always take up cycling I suppose. Its much the same sort of thing.
They could go and spend their time on a finance thread, or the “council” one, or one about speeding, or best of all a thread to do with SUVs, school mums, and Audis.

The outlets for such folk are many and varied on PH wink
To take me away from all the disagreements, slanging matches and downright insults, I go to the 'Needlework' thread. Heaven.cloud9cool

That's your assumption, not mine. All I'm saying is it's an unnecessary and unjustified concealment (which it is even if mounted on your dash) of a key vehicle identifier. The reasons you choose to do that are your own.

If it wasn't a challenge, why did a <10min job take 2 years to do?

No, you chose an emotive potential scenario that supports your opinion on dash mounted plates which led me to ask you a (slightly) facetious question. I made no assumptions.

It's still on the dash so it's over two years. It's low on my list of priorities; but the main reason is can't decide where to mount it or if I should buy a smaller plate to make mounting it easier.

I have a scenario, you added 'everyone' to it, not me. The same could be said of people that do mount their number plates obviously, but not 'everyone'.

I hope you don't face the same indecision with your tyre wear, MOT and accident avoidance.

As I said it was a facetious question based on an emotive example choice...so both posts of equal value=none?

No, because those example actually make a difference to both mine and other road users safety...so another post of zero value?
