If you were playing top trumps, then yeah, you're right, but for driver enjoyment, I'd bet there's not a lot in it. No, it doesn't have the flexibility of the Germans, but I find the modern turbo V8's lacking the peaky power I find enjoyable.
I agree. Lexus GS-F is already too fast for normal roads, so i don't think that you need another 100hp or so. That V8 just sounds so lovely cool Besides, people doesn't remember anymore how good it feels when you have a car with good throttle response.
Too fast for normal roads?

I've not driven a GS-F, or an M5, but I have driven the M6 with the same engine in and there are opportunities when you can open it up, so I'm not sure I agree with that. Plus, the massive torque band means it's a very flexible engine.

It doesn't QUITE have the instant throttle response as the E92 M3 it replaced, but it's sheer grunt more than makes up for that. Have you driven a current M5 or M6?

Nope, not an M5 or M6, but a CLS 63 Shooting Brake, so on par with those; though fast and a very lovely car, it was, for the want of a better word, 'lacking' something for me. Like I say, I'm not a fan of the modern, instant shove turbo cars, with peak torque at 1500 rpm. Each to their own, I guess.

Having driven a CL63 with the bi-turbo engine I can definitely say the throttle is sharper on the M6. I'm not sure if it's different on the CLS63, mind.

Nope, i haven't. Audi rs6 is more familiar for me. Good throttle response is a little bit of subjective thing for sure. I'm used to re-mapped n/a motor which is responsive so turbo engined car does sometimes feel sluggish. They have a great mid-range torque for sure, albeit rev range is not that wide.

The thing is, i like to enjoy driving all the time, not just WOT on open straight line. It really is boring and in the end it will burn your driving license. Responsive engine brings a lot of smiles in the twisty roads but i don't know do i need that extra 100hp or not. Especially when you already have like 450+hp...
