Pick up my first bike today!
Discussion
I test rode a sportster a few years back and thought it was a lot of fun. Because they're not very good from a handling point of view compares to a sports bike and they're heavy, you really have to manhandle them about.
I'd echo the comments on ACF50.
Also, if you can't stop within the distance you can see is clear, slow down. If you can't see for a fact that there isn't a broken down tractor around the next bend, assume there is one!

If you don't take to it immediately, don't be too disappointed, give it another go. I hated my first Sportster! I so looked forward to collecting it and expected so much after years of big Zeds and the like. Picked it up from London and brought it home down the M4 in a snowstorm; thought it was so crap that part way back I swapped with a mate and drove his car and he rode the bike. Convinced myself that the slow, bad handling, underpowered, clunky pile of crap was going up for sale as soon as I cleaned it... so the following day I cleaned it and took it out for another run. The sun was out, I didn't expect to be anything other than disappointed but... to cut a long story short, I'm on my third Sporty and second big twin and love them both, but they are an acquired taste.
Congrats, nothing like the anticipation of getting your first bike on the road, whatever it is.
Its not *that* bad for a first bike, learn to ride it to its limits within a year and you will be ready to take advantage of the Harley trade up/in deal they usually offer on the 883. Can you still take it back 12 months later and get 100% of purchase price for it against a new "big" Harley ? ....that was/is one of their few incentives; usually they dont do much as they dont have to....

So, I picked it up, signed a million bits of paper and then the drive off the forecourt (please don't stack it infront of everyone!!!) and away!
The rid is strange to get used to as all my training bikes were more sporty and had a 'more comfortable' riding position however after an hour or so I got used to it and it was really good.
I'll post a longer review soon when I have time!
