The only trouble I had was the pedals were quite close together (118d, manual)... The only other car I have struggled with the pedals is a mid 90s corsa.
I honestly don't know how you can compare the two! I learned to drive in a 1995 Corsa and the three pedals may as well have been one.Our 120i manual was nothing at all like that. The pedals were absolutely fine and there was lots of space on the clutch foot-rest.

But no space next to the accelerator.
I like my wife's 120d but I couldn't live with it personally. Too many annoying compromising "features"
I suspect that's due to the space taken up by the gearbox making the footwell narrower. As before, if you don't want a gearbox between the front occupants and a big transmission tunnel running through the cabin, then you can buy a front wheel drive car that lumps all the mass over the front wheels. The lack of interior space in FE/RWD cars is an unavoidable downside which must be accepted along with the obvious dynamic upsides - your choice of car depends how you weigh up these pros and cons.I like my wife's 120d but I couldn't live with it personally.
