Love it.

That style wheel but wider and the car a lot lower would look better.

(I'm guessing they're bbs RS reps)

Awesome cool

Built to a terrific standard, these, a genuine half a million mile car and I'm not talking about a triggers new broom engine either.

Can confirm. I was in a moderately serious accident in a 240 as a child, when we skidded off a damp hairpin and hit a forest bank. The shell absorbed a tremendous amount of energy - the car was fully accordioned and the front doors were partially overlapping the rears. My Mum broke her ankle and messed up her face on the steering wheel (no airbags), but it could have been so much worse.

Always had a soft spot for these cars. And of course they should be PH-approved as they're RWD...

Lovejoy can also attest to this

Here's the lump from the 940 donor previously mentioned. Currently sat on my garage floor waiting to be taken apart, re gasket-ed, cleaned up and re painted before going into the 245!

I'm not aiming for massive power at the moment. I'll be keeping the b230ft fairly stock for now, meaning standard cam and 13c turbo. It will be breathing better thanks to a custom stainless exhaust that must be made to clear the steering rack and usual induction improvements.

Later plans will include a bigger turbo (from a T5 possibly) a more aggressive cam and chipping the ecu etc. All in good time.

I bought one of these in blue for £400 and drove it 5000 miles around Europe! An amazing car, truly the best (and sort of the worst) car I've ever owned. I would also say that the girls love it, it was by far the most 'successful' car I ever owned in that respect, perhaps it was a pity thing but either way it was definitely memorable!

I sold the car to my dad in the end, he kept it going for years without any fuss, sadly it had to be sold and is now probably scrapped. If I had the space I'd buy another in a heartbeat!

Watch this with sound and explanation as to why you'd almost certainly die if you drove your 80's steer gerder into a modern, intelligent NCAP car

The roads weren't predominantly filled with 5 star NCAP rated cars when you were a kid. Crashing an 80's Volvo into a 00's 5 star car would be like throwing a blancmange against a wall. Which is what the occupants would look like in the remains.

In defence I recall reading the Volvo was less an engine.

Scarey stuff, if i had to be involved in a shunt in something 80's i'd settle between Merc, Volvo or Saab. Can you imagine what state a Cortina or mk1 Cavalier would be in after that?

Well, this was in 2001, so it was a pretty old car already by then, but yes, you're right. All the same, our old Volvo remained remarkably intact for a car of its era. It's very possible one of use could have been killed in a lesser vehicle.

Love it....here's my old barge doing an impression of the Griswolds last year in Woolacombe. The other Volvo is a bit older but a bit swifter....
