I remember when these were cheaper, much lower asking prices.
Looks ace imo.

A certain six sided north London dealer seemed to be big contributing factor to sky rocketing values.
I remember being offered an Alpina version with tiny miles on it by Harry Fairburn BMW Dealer in Glasgow in about 2002 for £42K (which I didn't have). That was before the 'hype' started.
I'm a BMW lover but even if I'd had £42K I didn't want one back then...and I wouldn't want one of these even now. It might be nice to drive the Pacific Highway in one but I think here in the U.K I might feel a bit...how shall I put it...uncomfortably self-conscious?

Agreed, one of the ugliest BMWs ever produced, and that is saying something.
From someone that owned a Buick Regal and a Ford Probe Only joking, everyones tastes are different - i think the Z8 is a fantastic bit of design that in another 10 years or so will be better thought of. A bit like the Z4!
So how much further are these going to rise in price i wonder?!

Still, it's only worth that if someone is willing to pay it...

A chap near me has had one for 10+ years, so I guess he'll be very pleased with that level of return if he decides to sell.
I was never a massive fan of these - probably a lovely thing to punt around on a shot day, but they're just a bit silver-haired-German-millionaire (trophy wife not included) as well as the unfortunate Pierce Brosnan 007 connotations.
I recall seeing one in black with red leather and it looked far better, but never a car I ever wanted to buy - even when I could afford one. Mercedes have always done this sort of thing much better imo.
If I had the $$$, I'd have a grey one like this, use it every day, park in on the side of the road and cake the alloys in brake dust. Fed up with seeing cars as investments, powered by white wall adverts with 8000 word essays. "The BMW Z8 was launched in...........blah blah blah'
