RE: Ford Focus RS: Spotted

I would have thought Volvo S60R with 300bhp is pretty similar to an RS engine? I think they were made up until around 2007 which is when the ST was already around. Agree that the World needs more 5cylinders.
I don't believe so..... the S60R was an older version of the motor, it's my understanding that the RS engine spec is unique to the car and built by Ford from the block up. I had an S60R company car for a short while (blagged!) and it's power delivery was very different to the RS (it was smoother & more linear, where the RS is quite boosty and engaging). It was also very quiet and didn't really sound like a 5-pot. Of course, it's a different car (lardy & 4WD) for a different market, so Volvo would have tuned the motor & exhaust accordingly.Rearwheel said:
Give me a similar vintage M3 of this any day. 400bhp RWD. Crazy money for a ford imo
Are you suggesting a BMW somehow should command more of a premium than a Ford because it is a BMW? Are you forgetting that Ford also build supercars and that RS models are highly sought after? They are also far less common than M3s which helps. An Escort Cosworth is generally worth much more than a similar vintage M3 too and a 2003 Focus RS is comparable in price to a similar ages e46 M3. Much lower running costs also help. RS Fords hold money like very little else.
