Got back last week from a Euro trip to Poland and Lithuania to see family and friends. 4000 miles covered in just 16 days and a 20 hour stint on the drive home. Our mode of transport was more comfortable for the occasion though. Took this picture the minute we arrived back home.

The other half had her first taste of the Autobahn and her first taste of driving over 100MPH (She hit an indicated 140!). She is a little speed demon deep down.

Next year we are going to leave the kids and go on our own little Euro trip most likely in the GT-Four.

I doubt you will go that far east to Poland but they have some fantastic lakes and fantastic forests for biking. I would highly recommend doing the whole WW2 tour thing in France/Belgium. Did it many moons ago while at school and was a fantastic experience.

Love reading about trips like this!

If your Grandad's garage was anything like my Grandad's was in the 1970s, there will be somewhere a secret supply of sweets, a bottle of spirits to add a drop to the cup of tea my Grandmother used to bring him and the smell of pipe tobacco (no Werthers though!)

Good call on the oil change. That old filter looked a little worse for wear!

We've just had a mini road trip of Llandudno, Anglesey and North Wales! The A5 roads are stunning, it felt like we were on the continent in this lovely weather!

Oooh so many places you could go!

I love this sort of thing :-)

3rd time did this route in a 1969 MGB!!

Whatever you do you'll have a great time smile
How long did you take to do that route? Did you press on every day, or have some days where you stayed over in a place?

4000 miles? Sodding hell, long way!

Loving the responses on this. It would seem that my old bimmer is downright modern compared to some of the cars PHers have taken around the continent!

I had a 4 hour nap. Can't recommend it as a good nap length. It's neither here nor there.

Just crossed into Switzerland where a plump lady made me pay 40 euros.
And gave me this as change:

What the bloody hell am I going to do with that. Play monopoly?!

Is that it in the garage? That requires more pictures..

I would do the WW2 thing but I go on such trips with work as it is, so no real requirement to go off by myself. I would however like to see where my grandad was based in norway. His pictures are stunning.

Didn't die.

Ten points to the person that recognizes this monster. Just about keeping uo with it just so I could hear the howl in the tunnels both cars made was spectacular.

So I made it to the alps and the next day picked up my friend from the airport in grenoble. We met in army training and get on like a drunk tank. Few days of skiing in the alps and we drove down to italy. Last night was a stop in lake como and today we drove to his house in rome.

The car...
Well the fuel guage has piled in. Ha.

The other pictures aren't loading, I'll post em tomorrow

Recently returned from a euro trip myself having covered 4.5k miles - Crossing from Italy on the no. 28 route to St Moritz was easily one of the best drives of my life. I'm hoping to get a thread up soon!

We did Lake Como and stayed a few days in a place just north of Varenna - lovely part of the world cool

This is us just heading away from Altdorf over Klausenpass, Switzerland

For mountain biking Morzine/Les Gets in the French alps is well worth a visit - especially given your bike. Nice chairlifts up, lunacy coming down and some great runs cross country if feeling masochistic.

We just did 3800 miles round trip to the Algarve.
5 day zig zag through France and Spain.
Two weeks rest at a villa flouting round the pool then back.
Took the ferry home from northern Spain so slow drive up from the south.
Some great roads and lovely countryside in Portugal and north west Spain.

I did 4000 miles out to Romania and back last year. Out via Switzerland, Italy (with some days in Brescia), Slovenia & Hungary, back via Hungary & Germany (stopping for a night)...

Thoroughly recommended. Took 13 days and some proper long stints behind the wheel but I loved it. And Romania is awesome.
