The supposedly vandal
Proof Rubber Duck Ariel. Not seen one in decades.
Used to 'obtain' those from parked cars from time to time!!

There was a reason though...

The antenna would would fit onto the rear brake caliper perfectly and looked great!

you just had to remove the centre retaining bolt for the brake, and then spend all your time re-tigtening the antenna so it didn't fall of and in turn cause your entire brake assembly to fall apart. ( this would result in needing to 'obtain' another areal )

That's also the reason I will never buy metal valve caps.
purchased a car with them on once... they were gone within 15mins of getting home with it irked

...damn bmx kids laugh

Works a treat.

Guilty....as charged....on my 1981 Ford Cortina at Uni in 1988...so desperate to look like a yuppie....cataclysmic fail...
I don't think we've yet had fake mobile phone aerials.....sorry if we have....

And ten dollars back in 1993 or whenever too! Which is like $25.00 now. Nowadays you can probably buy a real antenna from ebay for two bucks, postage paid from China!

Putting bigger alloys on. I remember a friend had 17's on his mk3 golf vr6 which was considered amazing!

I had one of these on a 1.4 306 meridian biggrin Naturally I had it angled out like a 205 gti cry

Does anyone remember the DIMMA saxo in the Trafford Centre?

Oh and max power live 2002... biggrin

What started it all for me? The Fast and the Furious. I can still recite all of the dialogue lmao

I miss the modded car scene tbh. Now if you are in it you need to spend £50k on a car to stand out..and most people have GTR's etc. There was something cool about spending £25k over 10 years modifying a 1.0 nova. Now people just do it all on finance and everything has to be NOW NOW NOW to the point where theres no individualism.

Here in the NW the scene is quite large, down in the SW it died out due to lack of money.

I fitted a Peco BigBore 4 to my old Cavalier 1.8, because I needed a new exhaust backbox and I won it on eBay for a fiver including postage... at the time though, I thought I looked very cool.

I had a scaffold pole (really!) and a cherry bomb on my Rover V8. Sounded great...rest of the road disagreed.

bigger alloys still is a thing - went from 17's (235s IIRC) on my Mustang to 20's (255/45 f & 295/30 r).

Peco's and cherry-bombs may have disappeared but the aftermarket zorst thing is alive and kicking
