Four exhausts on a 4 cylinder golf, complete rubbish. Much worse than any barried saxo imo
Every time I see one of those two of the pipes (one either side) are squeaky clean whilst the others are filthy/black, are two of them fake?

Sorry this stoopid ipad doesn't want to help me put up some pics but google Bosozoku cars and you'll see some prepostorous exhausts!

The new Golf and Scirocco Rs have nothing on this old-skool Mk.I

For the times such that you want an economical truck.

Also, on a serious note, this from the PH GS-F thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=161... :

I have seen the same, I suspect that the outer two are closed unless you are trying hard and therefore need more outflow.

Saw this at a trackday. Can't work out if I was a fan or not. Was on a lovely JDM civic. Clearly belongs to someone's on here

That's a blast from the past...that FD2 used to belong to me. Didn't have that exhaust though. I'd put it back to standard when I sold it.

One side is probably valve controlled. If I owned an R or an S3 I would remove one of the sides. Actually I was looking at new S3's before I read how they drove, and decided that's what I'd do.

Maybe the other two are only used when a bypass is opened in sports/noisy mode or something like that?

No that's wrong, very very wrong

Stuff like that should still be a public hanging offence

All of the quad R exhausts I've seen so far, the inner two on each side has been filthy while the outer two have been sparkly clean. Outer two not actually used at all?

Edit: beaten to it

I can't seem to find a picture right now but I've seen a couple of land rovers where the actual exhaust tip points downwards, but there's a trim slotted over it to make it look like the exhaust exits horizontally out the back which looks f*cking ridiculous because you can see the real tip inside the fake one. I p*ss myself laughing when I see them.

Yes I'd say definitely a sport/noise thing, it can't be for performance as it's not like a factory 4cyl needs aaaaall that exhaust flow! Even mild performance cars have valves and other exhaust synthesisers/enhancers nowadays so no doubts this is any less

Pa! they're nothing!

Those are entirely functional though! And entirely warranted given what is happening just in front of those exhausts

I have this odd appreciation for Bosozuku style, it is one of those things where most of the time the work is done well enough, and it is just a personal style thing, which i can appreciate as well (to each his own etc..). Much better then Barry slinging two 4 inch drainpipes underneath his 1.4 saxo.

As long as they dont do this to something rare/classic, i say go for it!

Four exhausts on a Golf R getting your goat?

How about 4 on a smart car?

Can we have a section for when we feel there isn't enough exhausts?

An R owner in a different thread confirmed 2 of them are not connected to anything.

With the old R32, one pipe was valve controlled and less dirty than the other, but at least it actually functioned as a tailpipe!
