The monza exhaust on my little 595. I don't think is perposterous though
That looks great - well in proportion with the car and adds the requisite amount of sportiness to the looks.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3M3DAigAj4

That's a blast from the past...that FD2 used to belong to me. Didn't have that exhaust though. I'd put it back to standard when I sold it.
I have had it for 5 years now,its been on a j's racing exhaust which amazing but deafining, it's now on ohlins, has 280hp with mugen 2.2 internals..... You know with my new exhaust I just had this burning desire to make it look like an early noughties diesel. Yes it's for noise guys, it's removable bedfords notoriously harsh....When it's feeling happy it looks like this...

Or the R8? And I guess we're going to say the Brera is a nicer looking car than any Porsche ever made, personally I rate some of the German manufacturers design. Take the Mercedes GT, it's a stunning looking car in the flesh.
Good point well made. Also, while a bit clinical, but more in the budget of the Brera (everybody can make an impractical 2dr 100k sportscar look good), the first gen A5 is a very good looking car.
That said, take the 159 and put it against it's contemporaries or (maybe a little bit more divicive) the Giulietta.
Not talking about the way it drives, but even the Fiat 500 looks like a real nod to the original while the MINI definitively looks like the German derivative of what a current day Mini should look like.
The A5 was distinctively German but had a flair to it. Then again, who designed it?
As for the R8 or most Porsches... no.
The Mercedes GT is one of the best looking cars on sale today though.
159 - Quality
Bera - Gorgeous from any angle that is not directly side on (dreadfully proportioned wheelbase) or involving the huge overhang at the back.
Fiat 500 and Mini (R53) had the same designer - both beautifully resolved homages to their namesake..and slowly getting buggered up.
ALL VAG design (apart from Lamborghini) is distinctly German - well resolved, overly poured over, slow and steady evolution...they stand the test of time but only sometimes set the heart on fire.
BMW - lost
Honda - Lost

i8, lost, I think not. And not mentioning the elephant in the room (shhh, the Brera is actually a bit crap) it has some bulbous angles and isn't 'that' special. Honda, lost er...159 - Quality

shh? the Brera that won multiple cvar design awards?...http://www.autoblog.com/2006/01/19/alfa-romeo-brera-wins-most-beautiful-car-in-the-world-award/The i8 whilst generally distinctive poops a 911 ?
The still born not-NSX and 'concept' 2-4?
come on REAL production designs please
Most if not all marques can stump up one half decent if not out right great model...but Honda as a company are lost, whilst BMW graft overly detailed aggressive but distinctive noses on bland, colour/wheel sensitive bodies...

I don't buy into awards for things, probably from the time when the Fiat Tipo, which was hateful, was made 'Euro car of the year'! It seemed totally irrelevant to me? I like the Brera but I think the way it's spoken about, is overblown. I think BMW did well on the 1M and personally quite like the i8. Blame the bean counters, then the ever more stringent regs for not realising the NSX properly. The original point being that the Germans aren't too shabby at car design and mostly they deliver on the driving aspect, which cannot always be said of others. I think the ECoTY is a unique case in point especially these days as a political thing... once upon a time the 928 won..those were the days...The Brera won on multiple continents...
The Tipo? meh..certainly no worse than the Lancia Delta of the same era..
Anyway, I've never said the Germans don't design well...on the contrary, I actually prefer well judged, evolutionary, well resolved and overly considered details, surfacing and proportions, which VAG do SO well, almost across the board.
So (German) VW, Audi, Porsche - all high quality stuff with bad works being in the minority
Mercedes....like BMW...they have skill, but 95% of the attention to detail goes to the face, the rest goes to overly fussy surfacing and ending up with a generic back end...here, for me, bad or at least unlikeable, works are in the majority.
