Handle well? Compared to a boat perhaps but not an elise!
Ah, the old cliches immediately come to the fore. The C5, as long as it has the Z51 handling pack, is excellent for it's size. No, it doesn't handle like an Elise, but few things do. I'll offer this up (and sod fuel economy, that's for tree huggers and penny pinchers. Enjoy life...)

I'd bet good money on it making money rather than losing any over the next 3 years.

Not really. I just don't think they handle well. That's my point. It's not a cliche, it's just a pretty accepted fact that they're straight line hero's. Especially a 15k one.I'll offer this up (and sod fuel economy, that's for tree huggers and penny pinchers. Enjoy life...)

At least we agree on something: thats a petty nice looking alfa.

Get a Porker, no brainer.
Should be able to get a decent 996 C2 for that money, especially if you went Tiptronic as you suggest you prefer.Buy sensibly & you shouldn't lose any money, may even rise a little. Will see high 20's to early 30's on a run, running costs reasonable with a decent Indie.
Another vote for an Elise.
I've had mine nine years as a daily driver and it's worth pretty much exactly what I paid for it at three years old. All the maintenance and consumables combined have cost me £450 a year; that's less than our Skoda. It'll do 45-50mpg on the motorway and even on B-roads it's pretty much impossible to get under 30mpg.

Another thought here - try a C5 Corvette, surprisingly good on fuel, very quick, handle well and (nearly) depreciation proof
Handle well? Compared to a boat perhaps but not an elise! Therefore I have decided I have upto 15k to spend on a fun car.
Here is my criteria..
Low depreciation, - Yes
Fast and fun. - certainly fast and it is fun, maybe not as fun as an Elise on the twisties but on a motorway or A-road?
Motorway MPG must be higher than 30 mpg but other than that nice big engines are a plus. - with the best will in the world you couldn't say the Elise has a big engine (nor is it an auto as requested in a later post....)

S2000 or VX200 Turbo could be alternatives. I think both have been enjoying a small rise in value over the past couple of years.
OP wants an auto otherwise I would have suggested an FD2.Dunno then, I don't do autos.

BMW M3 3.2 CS
These will go up in price.
Might struggle to get one under £15,000 now.
If not as mentioned by another poster the Porsche 996 would be a very safe bet.
These will increase in value
