Love it, but surely recomissioning all the clever diffs and other magic wisidary will cost a small fortune?

I've just gone the other way (Evo 5 to GTR). Keep an eye on the Lancer Register classifieds.

Why would you though? The value of this car is in the low number shown on the clocks, meaning it's doomed to forever be a museum piece. You don't buy this one to drive.

'recommissioning' diffs is just a fluid change. There will be no wear on the AYC pump, theres no calibration etc... to do. Change diff oil, gearbox oil, engine oil and plugs and your good to go.

Evo's aren't complicated to run, they just need basic servicing more frequent than 'normal' cars

Love everything about this.....except the comedy rear window wiper! Slightly undermines the hardcore spec sheet.
I never considered the rear wiper comical, but now that you mention it...

I won't be removing it, nor the far more credibility-undermining wind deflectors.

The GTR is a blunt instrument to the evo's scalpel. I have a customer with access to literally any car he wants, including the old mans P1, and after a ride in my car was immediately on the lookout for a mint Tommi Makkinen. These cars are not modern at all, despite attempts to facelift the later ones, they feel old school and drive as such, great fun.
