Morning All,

I have a 2016 Ducati Monster 1200 at the moment which is more than quick enough for me and handles beyond my limit. Basically, it's a great bike that I love riding.

However.....I don't want to use it in bad weather and have an itch for something different to go along side it.

Basically - I really like the idea of a chilled out cruiser but don't like the lack of ground clearance (nothing fun about grinding pegs to me). I don't want a Harley and I don't want a Moto Guzzi.

Even worse would be getting a bike too similar.

I don't want to spend more than 3K - 3.5K

Also on the radar, maybe a Hayabusa or CBR900RR? I think it's fair to say I'm confused over what I would like so left field suggestions are more than welcome....

Like the idea of a chilled out cruiser and a fireblade...?

What sort of riding do you want it for? If it's pure fun then maybe a Supermoto:

Maybe a GS seeing as you're not sure what you want and they appear to do everything...?

Exactly - I don't know what I want riding wise.

Super Motos are something I've never even ridden so maybe that's the answer.

I guess I'm worried I'd get a bike to ride and not enjoy it as much as the monster.

definitely do not want an adventure style bike.

I'm now thinking Hayabusa.

I only ride for fun, so maybe a cruiser type doesn't make sense as they don't corner as well as I would want.

I'll tell you what I really want (which is not possible) - a Harley 48 / sportster that handles and rides as well as my monster. This is clearly not possible, so yeah, maybe a super Moto is a good idea - it's different enough to not compare the two.

You could get a DRZ 400 and a set of supermoto wheels. Then you could do green laning and supermoto. Almost like two bikes in one.

Diavel Too expensive - I'd get shot if I spent more than £3,500, although it's probably the bike I am looking for.

I'll try some Supermotos as I haven't ridden any before. Other than that, I guess a sports bike is on the cards.

I just really want a really cool, low cruiser that rides well frown

Also, never ridden off road (except a field when I was 14), so maybe that would open up a new challenge.

I'll look into it.

Surely the answer lies with a Buell. In no way sensible but at least they have a Harley motor and can handle. Not sure about wet weather though, it would likely be terrifying.

Supermoto's make great second bikes providing you have the twisty roads on your doorstep to get the best out of them and only want to use it for a 60 mile thrash.

Without the rights roads they are rubbish and you will hate every moment so choose carefully.

I have a 2 bike garage; MV Brutale 1090RR and a Harley V-Rod, very different bikes depending what mood im in, and if my other half is riding pillion.

You could join a bike hire club for a year, ride 1/2 dozen different styles of bikes for long weekends and decide which you prefer.

For the last few years Ive been in Spyderclub and have 3-4 long weekends each year riding a club bike; 1299 Pani, Diavel, Ariel Ace, 899 Pani, SD1290R, S1000R, S1000RR, Multistrada

Often Ive got something out for a weekend, thinking I would really like it, then discovered its not really for me. On a 50 mile dealer test ride you barely get time to get out of town. Over a Friday to Monday you can usually get 300-400 miles in and see if you really gel with a particular bike....

I like the scrambler, but wouldn't consider increasing my self imposed budget for one!

As highlighted above, perhaps something that offers a different (life)style to that of your existing bike, such as some off roading. Bit of contrast. smile

I recently had an opportunity to ride a DRZ400 (was on the road though). Quite fun to check around, but you'd get the itch very quickly to take such a bike green laning, or at a dedicated offroad track. Otherwise its wasted ridden on tarmac, for 99% of its outings.

It's a great idea, but I'd ride a bike that I couldn't afford to buy in most cases. Membership for the top class also gets close to the budget I've set myself, and I'd like to get more than a months worth of riding!

Honestly, I'm looking at CBR600RR, after riding with someone yesterday it looks like a fun little bike, more like a scalpel to the ducati's hammer.

If you want a cruiser then how about a CB1300 from Honda? Classic muscle bike.

I would try a sports touring bike for all weathers. However if you want a sports bike maybe a older generation injected bike is the answer for all weathers?
