Car Arrived - Wrong Colour

I like brown. I wouldn't buy it new though, it'd have to be a company car not funded by me.
If i were to pull this with a lease company im sure the monthly fee would get adjusted upwards to reflect the lower resale value, and said i should've rejected the car...Or when explicitly ordering brown, the rate would just be higher then a grey one.
This happened to me a few years ago with a BMW 3 series coupe. I ordered a grey car with cream interior but got a black car with black interior. It went back and they gave me one of their demo cars for 3 months at no cost whilst they built me another.
To be fair, it was the last straw on what had been terrible service.

I would be pretty clear that the car is coming back to them unless they can make a serious offer to ensure it doesn't.
I would not have taken it for less than 10k discount because of their incompetence and resale hit, otherwise they could poke it and I would be buying a merc / bimmer I don't think its fair to mention exactly what they gave me but I think it was a reasonable amount but considerably less than some of the figures mentioned here. It was a gesture of goodwill rather than any figure related to speculation of future value and as I mentioned I would not have accepted it if I did not think it looked OK in that colour. They did not throw in an umbrella!
To answer other questions it was a lease so the future value is not any concern to me and the lease company themselves who have been very helpful did not question this as an issue.
I will add a photo shortly and you can make your own mind up. It is Java Brown by the way.

Hang on - They supplied you THE WRONG CAR, and you are happy with some minor reparation to dig THEM out of a hole?To answer other questions it was a lease so the future value is not any concern to me and the lease company themselves who have been very helpful did not question this as an issue.

WTF?
Thought you were moving abroad anyway?
I don't see why the outrage!
OP has got a deal he's now happy with, mistakes happen and it's how they get sorted out that's the bit to worry about.
The brown does look better than the grey IMO. As long as the OP is now happy all is well in the world.
If he wasn't happy with the colour/deal he could just say he didn't want it, they wouldnt/couldn't force him to take the car but he may be in for a wait for another.
So take the car that's here in a colour he may like but didn't order with a financial compensation to make it better or wait for another car? Option 1 for me!

Well done O/P for getting a result you were happy with. TBH I'm not sure I would have been - but then it's only your opinion that matters

Whilst its not on to get the order wrong, in my eyes the brown is far more interesting than another shade of monochrome!
got to be honest I do like that! Tomgc61 said:

out of curiosity just wondering why you think it's not fair to tell us what their gesture of goodwill was? not asking to name and shame... and seeing as it's a lease it's not difficult to work out approx how much you are paying for the lease. To answer other questions it was a lease so the future value is not any concern to me and the lease company themselves who have been very helpful did not question this as an issue.

now that we established its a lease I suppose it doesn't really matter it's brown -

I'd have told them to stick it up their arse, personally. The car, not the brolly.
Dealer's got off lightly on this one.

In that case, fair enough, just be sure the lease company wont bother you with the prospective drop in resale value!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
