To these eyes, the exterior of the car in those pictures is one thing. Black.
It's brown. And surprisingly looks quite nice with the interior.
It may be called brown, but my point is it looks like a black car.

OP, if you like it, then write to Audi UK and get a 'reasonable' compensation, ignore the salesperson. If not throw the keys back.

Please tell me there are no keys to "throw back". The car should not have been accepted. If you have driven off in it, you may be f*cked.

OP, is it Java Brown? That's the colour used in the promotional pictures I think.
Whilst I most probably wouldn't choose it if I ordered it new, I quite like it....

The question is, could you live with it (I mean really live with it)? If yes keep it, but under no circumstances take the umbrella!!!
Let them bleed!!!

If not: insist on a new car and let them give you a courtesy car in the meantime. And the umbrella!

Take a dump on the dealers desk and explain that you made a mistake. You thought his desk was the toilet. But it's ok. Explain that his desk is now in the best possible colour.

If he objects give him a free roll of toilet paper.

I ordered in grey and its come in Brown. Dealer has offered me a tank of fuel and an umbrella as compensation.
Ask them what they are going to do for you whilst you wait for the car you ordered to turn up.

Very early 2010 I was sat in a BMW dealers. I voiced my opinion on the newly released X1 and commented on the god damn awful brown colour it was available in. Salesman told me that BMW had given them a X1 in Brown that had sat in the middle of the showroom unloved for sometime. One day, shortly before closing time, in walked a couple who loved the colour. It wasn't a straighforward sale but the Sales Director clearly stated to the selling salesman that neither of them were leaving before the contract was signed as he wanted to ensure it was sold.

Happy to say that the dealer has now made a reasonable offer of compensation for the mistake. I've accepted but only because I think that the Brown has its merits through its not my first choice.

Thanks for all the words of advice and opinions - incredibly helpful in these tricky situations to have a bit of support.

Best to everyone.

........... the dealer was at pains to point out to me that it was in their opinion the best colour for the Allroad as it set off the arches and the chrome/silver details very nicely.

What a stroker.

When you try to trade it in they'll clearly still think that. Said NO ONE EVER.

Tell them to GET FcensoredD.
I could not agree with this more.
Particularly the use of the word, "stroker".

Glad to hear it, but I'm going to also voice what seems to be the consensus view and say that it looks rather nice in that colour combination!

more than £200 and a lot less than £3k

Hopefully it's enough to get a wrap at some point? that's all the rage these days...

I quite like the brown. Audi's massive range of greys and silvers is a tad obvious... it may be a hard sell come trade in time, but it may be that it'll be seen as the colour to have.. you never know.
As long as the interior ties in?

Well I hope the compensation covers the thousands of pounds you'll lose come resale, plus some on top for the hassle.

Forgot to ask - did they do the full "reveal" for you, pulling off the dustcover to reveal your car in all it's incorrect glory?

Would have liked to see that on camera...

BTW, Brown allroads look just fine. Yellow would be tricky to pull off, though...

I was going to add "Brown is bit of a Marmite colour", but thought better of it smile

Glad you are happy. As others have asked; which Brown is it? Lease or Purchase and how much did they improve their offer? Pic of the car?
