I have to say that I would be firmly sticking to my "if I'd wanted a brown car, I'd have ordered a brown car" guns.

OP, if it isn't too late, try and agree a guaranteed buy-back price from the supplying dealer.

+1

What may seem pretty generous as compo now, may look like chump change come trade-in time when they highlight that nobody wants a brown car.

If it were my 50 grand being spent, I'd want what I ordered. Hell, if I ordered a Fiesta I'd want the colour I ordered....

I agree.

I like the colour because it is different to the usual boring VAG white/black/grey masses. However, if I had been the victim of a head injury and ordered a grey car, I would want a grey car.

I guess OP is easily influenced.

But sir, Audi use it in their press photos. hehe

O/P need some more details.

- is not chosing a colour of your choice one of the main benefits of ordering new?

I know you have made your decision but sorry to say - spend 50k on a new car - don't get colour of your choice and it's brown...

If its on PCP then that wont matter.

Personally I prefer it in brown to grey but I guess I am in the minority.

Well I hope the compensation covers the thousands of pounds you'll lose come resale, plus some on top for the hassle.
Surely Audi did the market research for that colour and set up the paint processes so obviously thought that it was worthwhile, someone must have bought them new as I have seen some in that colour.

So, do they lose that much for being brown ?

Also, why is it things get so scatological when brown cars are mentioned, yes, Fecal matter usually is in the brown spectrum of the palette but not a lustrous, even metallic brown ? bodily fluids come in other colours but nobody generally says they dont want one in "Spunky White", "Failing Liver Yellow", "Throbbing Helmet Purple", or "Monthly Curse Red" ?

Is it really people dont like it or the utter terror of the hit come resale ?

Seems like quite a few like it, despite the fascination with turds from some, who I bet have a special dining chair with a hole in it and a massive roll of builders plastic anyway as they secretly love it.

Whilst its not on to get the order wrong, in my eyes the brown is far more interesting than another shade of monochrome!

Undoubtedly it looks good, not to mention different.

However, the mass market likes boring staid colours so come re-sale time, he'll be bid in the nuts.

Unless he has a GFV on PCP that's the same as his grey one.

Agree that brown looks ok, but I dont think the OP has clarified the hue he has got...

How's the umbrella working out? Hoping to pull the trigger on an Audi one early next year.

Surely it does matter - if GFV is £17k and OP would have got £20k for the grey one but only gets £15k for the brown, he's still down £3k..right?

The only non-exclusive brown colour available on the A6 allroad is Java Brown.

I agree. I ordered my Allroad in blue but to be honest it just looks grey; I wish I'd chosen something a bit more interesting now!

Well, i hope OP got a good deal out of it.

I would've rejected the car, cancelled the order and gone shopping at another dealer purely for the insulting compensation offers and "but brown really is the best colour sir" crap.

Slightly insulting that such a fundamental thing as colour to the product and all they can offer is £200?

I like brown. I wouldn't buy it new though, it'd have to be a company car not funded by me.

£200 insults anyone's intelligence. Next they'll say 'that's all the profit that we have in it mate'.

I must admit I think it is a bit cheap! They have agreed that it was ordered in Tornado Grey. {b}We had written off the Brown as being possibly a bit of a difficult col;our to live with [/b]....
how so? will it affect your heart rate? cause problems with the neighbours? one of your kids unable to see the colour so the car is invisible?

Oo good point!

It'd be like being served a cold meal after a long wait in a nice restaurant and being offered table wine to make up for it.
