I wish I'd bought one of those now. Rear screens would be a godsend for us.

Might be trade in time!

Do they handle like a wobbly Van though?
Yes.

Try the Espace, post 2006. Seating not as clever, but a far nicer drive (and yes I've driven both).

I dont think so no, A test drive is deffo needed and try it fully laden with the family.

I do regular blats motorway, fast A road and recently did a 250 plus mile route from Manchester to Lowestoft and it was fine.

The autobox makes sense for a car this size, and in 2.8 form has enough power to keep things brisk.

Only issue I would say on my older model is that the box is a 4 speed, if you drive less than 60mph on say a motorway, it will downshift to third which can be slightly annoying if you press the loud pedal more than a quarter of the way through its travel. Gearing is like this due to having 4 gears only. From memory 80 mph is 2500rpm. Which is probably equivalent of a manual 5 speed at similar speeds.

Try a Santa Fe. I'm on our second (7 seater Premium SE). Previously I've had X5, Sharan, Galaxy and Espace, but I've been really impressed with the Hyundai. Comes with everything as standard (leather, heated and cooled seats, pano roof, sat nav, reverse camera, the list goes on and on). It's a great car, we've done two 3,000 mile round trips in the past year, 7 up with roof box (5 kids), and it's been superb.

Discovery.

I can understand the question "why do you want 7 seats" when you have 3 kids, but it's usually from people who don't understand the space restrictions.

We now have 2 kids and I've been looking at 7 seaters because 5 seat cars don't seat 5. Particularly when 2 of those are taken up by small people in very big, and rigid car seats.

So, we need a seven seater because we want to seat five.
