Looking at taking the mrs away for a night over the bank holiday. Basically we want somewhere nice on Sunday and then something to do on the monday.

Location wise, within 150 miles / 3 hours of Newbury.
Activity wise, anything, we like musueums, activities like mazes, big old castles etc. We went to beaulie last weekend and had a great time for example.

Need some help as ive not had to do something like this for ages hah.

Cost wise about 150 including the dats activity at the top end, nice hotel or b&b?

Any suggestions?

South Devon - get an Air BnB, have a day on the beach/go for a walk and then have a nice meal & a few drinks in a quiet pub. Easy

Bath could be nice! Any suggestions for decent hotels which have parking, i understand Bath is not very car friendly so you have to walk or bus everywhere?

next weekend 3 hours will get you as far as Swindon if heading west.

Go north to the Cotwolds
Or south to the Solent or Bournemouth.

The M5 south from Bristol to Devon will be horrid, unless you are able to be on the road very very early.

What about West Wales. There are a few nice hotel/spa type places. St Brides in Saundersfoot is nice. That would put you in south pembrokshire. Plenty of nice walks and gorgeous beaches. Carew castle and Pembroke castle are only 10-20 minutes away Aswell as a few different museums in Pembroke Dock and the old Mill in Carew. If the weather is nice Pembrokeshire is one of the prettiest places around, and it rains...
Put a coat on.

How about an actual bank? Should get the place to yourself, there will be a coffee machine and internet access.

Alistair Swadays for unique / different places to stay.

Suggest somewhere like Tintern / Wye calley or Rye in Kent for example?

Although both places likely to be pretty busy on BH weekend

5 minutes walk from the centre, parking outside the front door:

Bath may be just the job, but being local I don't really know about hotels as I pop in on the park and ride.
Parking is expensive though, but it's only a small city and walking everywhere quite nice.

Good shout
Tell everyone you're going away, then lock the front gates.
