Hi,

I'm after a bit of advice on a parking charge which I'm contesting which is rumbling on. Facts are as follows:

a) I own a flat in Chester which I rent out. Parking permits are required for both visitors and owners / tenants to park
b) Previous tenants vacated taking permits with them
c) I requested new permits from VCS. The time taken for the new permits to be issued meant that I could not pass to the painter in time
d) Painter came to paint and didn't have a permit and got ticketed
e) I spoke to the painter and said I'd sort on his behalf
f) I contacted VCS stating that charge is unfair for a variety of reasons but mainly that permits weren't issued in a timely fashion. I provided emails to this effect including responses from VCS permits department
g) A few letters have gone to and fro but this is the latest:

Guess I'm after advice on how best to proceed? I don't really want to trouble the painter

I'm tempted to reply saying that I'm referring to the ombudsman. What is my best course of actions?

Cheers

Stick by your statement saying the new permits have not been issued in time, the parking firm could have put a note on the file so to speak about this.

Tell them see you in court then smile

What ombudsman?

What is the timescale between you requesting the new permits and the infringment?

What scum these companies are.

A clear situation where they have demonstrated their inadequacy but they refuse to accept it and try to worm information from the OP just so they can then press their claim against the painter who won't have access to the evidence of their cock up.

No doubt if he was given it they'll refuse to accept it because the e mails aren't his to be referring to.

They are all in run by idiots.

I have fought of 6 or so tickets so far as we get a few for our vans at work.

Last two I had were from APCOA in a travelOdge. Our guy stayed all week and the parking machine was down. We have had tickets for two days and in the envelope there were tickets for other travelodge guests. I have sent these direct to TL to see what they have to say about this breach of data protection.

Four years on and I'm still receiving correspondence from various solicitors and the parking company. I'm definitely in the right (ticket times prove that) but these guys don't give up. A court appearance will end this but this is unlikely to happen. I keep all the letters but don't reply. As said before the parking ombudsman is useless. Be patient or pay to avoid the crap.

Is the parking space that the painter used allocated to you?
