Need to replace car with urgency and I've been offered a Volvo bi-fuel cheap - never had a Bifuel before so wondered if anything in particular to check on them?

Make sure the LPG side of it works properly, the system is not widely used outside of the BiFuel Volvos and finding someone who understands it can be difficult.

There used to be a guy on the Volvo Owners Club forums who supplied refurbished parts for the system at very good prices, not sure if he's still active as it's been a year or so since I've been on there.

Other than that there's nothing particularly special about them, the engines run and run if properly looked after, several 200k+ mile examples out there.

Whilst I have no knowledge of the system I'd probably stay away from the added complexity of the system when looking for a cheap car, unless you're doing very high miles and can justify the risk with the benefit of lower fuel bills.

Thanks guys. I agree I'd usually stay away from the added complexity, just have some urgency as my snotter has a gearbox full of neutrals and this is 'very attractively priced'. Will go take a peek. It's got 185k on it already but if it runs for another 20k it'd do.

Most of the old Volvo bi fuels from mid 2000s were I fact CNG - compressed natural gas and not lpg.

Well that was a fairly easy decision, the LPG system didn't work at all lol. No sale!
