Cruising along with both of my kids and the wife in her little peugeot 207 I see what can only be described as a force of nature behind me.
I spend the next few minutes trying to enthuse my wife and have her craning her neck to see the GTR behind us. Once on a NS stretch I slow down a little and wave him through hoping to give us a show to justify my ramblings to the wife and kids as to why its such a great car.

He definitely did that! He dropped it into second I imagine and proceeded to hoon it past with an upshift right next to our car so we got the full brunt of the engine note. Dreammyyyyy.....

Even the wife laughed and thats saying something.

It got me thinking though, this was a perfect storm and a scenario which left everyone happy but I doubt it happens that often for said driver of GTR. But I can only assume this is the sort of thing he enjoys given his number plate choice.

Now my question is.... Knowing how much that package costs to buy / run / maintain.... Is this the dream for may of us?

Indeed. I thought it was Farage at first.

terrible plate, and there are far better drivers cars IMO (albeit slower) than the now hugely expensive GTR

the track edition is over 90k !!

Nah, the dream is taking a car like that and giving it a good thrashing across an interesting A or B road with no other traffic about.

My 350Z is nothing like a GT-R for grunt but the scenario I wrote above is when I fall in love with it all over again. 6am Sunday morning nothing but the sun rising and an empty road with a V6 making the music. Almost poetic. :bliss: nuts

I was at a car dealers yesterday and they had a 350Z in and had to move it, made me miss mine a bit.

I recently read a review on the 370Z Nismo and it was described as a mini GTR. Bang for buck I suspect its a much nicer place to be all things considered.

Glad you enjoyed the experience OP. Not my dream but they're impressive motors and in a world of GT3RS and Speciales selling for £2-300k I think £90k for a track focussed one is probably a decent buy.

I disagree only because overtaking is fun!

It's not mine I'm afraid. I mean I can admire the GTR for it's performance, it's undoubtedly a very quick car.

But I'm not a fan of the GTR aesthetically speaking. It's not even that it's too in your face as there's plenty of cars I would love to own that are far from subtle.

It's one of those cars that fans of the Japanese car scene love, big exhausts, not especially pretty, loud etc. Just not something I aspire to. I admire the Top Trump stats but I don't like them overall.

But hey, that's not a bad thing as if we all liked the same car life would be boring.

I hope we can all agree the plate cheapens the car though! haha

That's a nice story, a cracking plate, and fair play to the other guy for being a good sport.
End of the day: Everyone has a smile, no harm done.
Nice smile

Chav car exemplified with a chav plate. Sorry, screams no class to me.

A friend of mine is wax lyrical about a GTR being his dream car. I just do not understand. Horses for courses eh.

Such a snob!
What's "class" even got to do with it, Mr La-de-da?

I would happily have one over a Porsche or a Ferrari, but then I'd rather have any of the previous 3 models over an R35 smile

I would guess that his dream involved something he sees as classy?

Seems fair enough to me.

R34 vspec 2 in midnight purple 3 on some bronze/gold TE37s is the ultimate looking GTR in my opinion

The Nissan GTR isn't the dream for me (especially with that plate!) but I can relate...

As dreams go, the GTR is quite obtainable- make it happen for you.

I concur, I could have two absolutely amazing motors for the money he has spent. I did enjoy it when he dropped it and flew past but there is a lot to be said for understatement.
