I rarely get to ride for fun, so need a few ideas for some decent routes out of London, pref west. Decent roads but also nice picturesque scenery would be good, ideally with a few nice pretty stops.

Even better if they are simple enough so I can just follow my nose and not have to bother with satnav.

Help me out please boys.

M25, J13 take theA30 switchback to Egham, 1 mile later, at the roundabout under the M25 on the edge of Egham, turn right for Windsor... Runnymede bends alongside the Thames... smile
From there anywhere West, North West, up towards and into the Chilterns

Head towards Aylesbury. Lots of routes beyond including A413 to Silverstone or A418 toward Stadhampton and have a coffee at H cafe then back via Henley.

I was going to say the A413, towards Aylesbury, you've got the Chilterns around there, should be plenty of nice views and places to stop.

If you have a couple of hours you could follow it to Aylesbury, then west through Thame to Dorchester and the H cafe as Captain above me mentions, then back via Henley. Two and a half hours plus a stop for coffee and cake.

Should also say the Sunday Service this weekend is out this way, nice roads to get there.

Thanks chaps. I'll have a look at those.

As for Curlie, you're right, apart from those going far north...

As above, A413 out to Waddesdon.

I'm in Uxbridge and that's my default local fun route. And the one I shall be taking to Sunday Service this weekend thumbup

Make sure you take the A41 from Aylesbury...otherwise you won't get to Waddesdon!!

Also...there a large bike dealer just the other side of Waddesdon that is worth a visit whilst out that.

From Waddesdon take the A41 towards Bicester then the B4011 down to Thame (good selection of coffee shops in Thame).

If you visit the H café (prefer the Waterside at Benson myself) try heading West towards Abingdon. A bit dull until you are through the town but then you can take the A338 south towards Lambourn or continue west past Kingston Bagpuize and Carterton to Burford.

A good route to the H café or Benson is to get off the M40 at junction 5 or 6, then go through Watlington and Chalgrove.
