Looking at a Track day next year at either Spa or the Ring, Full Track day not a tourist day.
Which is better or are they just too different.
Who do people use to book with, any suggestions or advice appreciated.

Thanks
Wessy

I love both, but I'd choose Spa.

Have you driven the 'Ring before? If not I doubt you'd get full value for the trackday as you will still be learning the track at the end of the day.

http://www.destination-nurburgring.com/ for 'ring track days.

Spa - I've used both Circuit Days and BookaTrack and both good organisers.

Why choose?

Doing a double header at the 'Ring followed by Spa in a couple of weeks with "the Nurburgring Experience".

If it's a one-off I'd go for Spa, you can learn it and enjoy it in a day which can't be said for the ring.

ETA, DN for the ring and CD for Spa are both good shouts.

There are tourist days at Spa and Nurburgring, but for track days:

Spa - Circuit Days, RSR Spa or Skylimit Events.

Nurburgring - Destination Nurburgring.

Avoid anyone selling tickets to an event they don't run. Book it direct and if you can then do both.

RSRSpa are very professional but I found their day very intimidating as they give a pretty free reign on overtaking. More experienced drivers may have a better experience. GoldTrack were great.

Also, Spa is just unbelievable, can't recommend it enough.

As a one day event then go for Spa, but the 'Ring and Spa are very close to each other. With Spa you will be quicker sooner as it is a shorter track, plus it is just an awesome track in it's own right.

Thanks again, I like the sound of both but funds and time will limit me to 1.
Agree with never having done either before, I will learn Spa quicker and hopefully have more time exploring the limits, where I could spend all the day at Nurburgring just getting out of the way, which maybe is unfair to the more regular drivers.
I think you have all agreed with what I thought was the right choice, so will get a Spa day booked once the dates come out for next year.

Love Spa, but do a trackday at the ring with some good instruction to start the day off and then you will have an epic day.

Quite agree with that Dm.Still there re some very important points at Spa that have to be learnt.Like Le Raidillion-making sure the car is settled and straight. The results of not having the car set up correctly could be seen during the last GP.

Nurburgring track days are relatively quiet and how will you ever learn the circuit if you don't go? Not going because you don't know it just means you'll never know it. If you are a competent track driver then a track day is the better choice to learn a the track than a tourist day.

I was going to do a double header at the Ring at the end of September but have decided to do a double hearer at Spa in October instead. It's closer, less than half the price and there's run off. Something completely lacking at the Ring. I've been to the Ring a dozen or so times (two track days and a few Tourist Days so far this year alone) and Spa twice.

Both are great fun but the Nurburgring is the more adventurous of the two. As others have said, why not do both?

You can still get into trouble at Spa coming over Radillon and spinning into the inside of Pouhon. But yes, a lot safer than Nurburgring I'd suggest.

I instruct at Spa and the Ring. There are many places at Spa that can catch people out, especially if the conditions are not 100%. Even in the dry if not approached correctly. All that green concrete barrier is there because they got tired of fixing barriers.

Yeah of course, and I wouldn't presume to speak with anything close to your authority, but it did seem like there was much less room for error at the Ring, no?

There certainly is less room here. But the thing is not making those errors-ie,not trying to go faster than your capability,or for that matter the cars.Approach the Ring with as much caution as you would any first time at any circuit, plus a bit more.As has been said, take notice of what is a long way in front of you and behind you.Hazards at both ends so to speak.
The roads around here,if driven faster than you know how, will bite even quicker than the Ring, they were all planned out by the same people, which is why they are sooo nice.smile
