Passed an Audi 90 quattro the other day. In lovely condition, looked like someone's daily driver as it was pulling a trailer full of crap.

A thought entered my head reading this thread, maybe using 'howmanyleft'; I wonder what, if any, models there are now zero examples left of on the roads?

I regularly see a yellow W reg Mk1 Astra estate on my way to work. Also occasionally a Frontera (the 5 door version), and most recently a late 80s/ early 90s Passat estate. (The shape with the square headlights but no grille). Also plenty of mk1 Focus about aswell. And there is a 95 Cavalier parked in the next street to where I live.

And cars that I don't seem to see many of;

Mk1 or even Mk2 Mondeos, mk1 Vectras, Mk3 Astras, Mk1 Skoda Fabia, the original Fiat Brava/Bravo, mk1 Renault Scenic or even Megane. Rover 25, or 45. The Hyundai Accent used to be a common site too.

Round my way it seems to be all mk2 Fabias now, don't know where the mk1s have all disappeared to. The last one I seen was one of the strange looking saloon versions, but that was a couple of years ago.

Just had a look on How Many Left, not one Alfa Sprint Cloverleaf left, although I can see why, mine was rotten from one end to the other at 10 years old.

Only 19 Fuegos left as well, bit of a shame, I really liked mine.

Just checked on my dad's old Sierra sapphire 2.0 glsi. It was a great car to drive . Registered March '88 tax due July 2001 so lasted 13 years which sounds about right

ultimately it's either rust or they become uneconomical to repair

I did come across a first gen rover 820 today and couldn't believe how small it looked compared to the modern insignia it was alongside. There was a time when it would have been in the segment above bit it looked tiny

You see a lot of the cars mentioned when in Europe, as I am sure you know. They've clearly never been treat to anything more than compulsory maintenance/repairs, not so much as a clean. But they're all still running!

The Mk1 Scirocco is pretty scarce, even the mk2 isn't that common.
My cousin has three of them, a Scala and a GT2 that he and his other half use as dailies, and a mk1 GL that he's slowly bringing back from the dead. smile

The 1991 GT2 stands out. He's painstakingly rebuilt and restored it over the past 2 years, and all the non-standard bits it picked up over the years have been junked for correct, factory parts. Condition wise, it could pass for a 30,000 miler sitting on a VW approved used forecourt in the mid 90s.

Lovely thing, and still a perfectly reliable daily as well.

That's a good one - I'm struggling to think of when I last saw one - they were reasonably common
I have one if you want to come and have a look at it. Won't charge you too much.

THere's a 1993-4 Vento parked at the end of our road this evening. I bet there's not many of them left, and judging by this one, it may not be long for this world either.
