I've had an elise as a daily driver for almost 15 years and just got a new S3 Elise S club racer that lifts my mood every single morning...Rarely does a day goes by when i dont get a compliment about it and how fab it still looks and goes, which shows how timeless its become.. and will hopefully become lotus's 911 equivalent in terms of continuous development. I just wish more people who own a lotus actually drive them more regularly, as each lotus car on the road is mobile advert for the brand that hopefully more people will see and experience what a fab and relevant design they still are, especially compared to over-hyped and often quite dull Porsches (apart from the top end ones) that many aspire to because of their good marketing.

For some reason I think this really doesn't look very good in photos. This seems to be a Lotus problem - the cars always look infinitely better in the flesh.

In the right colour and spec, the Elise still looks like a great car. Even the interior doesn't date it that much, because there's so little of it.

For those wondering where the extra weight came from, that's the passage of time - new safety laws etc etc... the old K-series was pretty light too, obviously the Toyota unit with a SC on top will be heavier

Please PH, for the love of God, don't post any more Lotus stories for a while.
Oh no, please carry on. They provide a perfect outlet for "purists", "enthusiasts" and other members of the "holier than thou" fraternity to let out their frustrations about other marques.

Regrettably the umpteenth Special Edition of Elise/Exige is no substitute for the 2010 promise of "five new cars in five years".

Quite right James. Your 400 looks good in that colour "orange", but why oh why is it always a silver, black, red, BRG, m/d.Blue as the other options.
Where are the bright green, burgundy, off white, Roman purple options. In fact anything a bit more off the wall - all too safe imo.
