Best place for short term insurance ( 1 week )

So, I'm getting married in 6 weeks.

We're having a week away in Devon after the wedding before the main honeymoon a few weeks later.

The old man has offered to lend us his Lotus Elise to drive down in if I can get it insured.

Where is the best place to get short term insurance that won't rip me off.

Being 27 almost 28 I can insure it for the year for about £450. But when I get a short term quote for a week it to says they won't insure me.

For a week on my car they want £98 when I can insure it for a year for £250 ish.

Any suggestions on where to get cheap short term insurance will be appreciated.

Could you not insure it for a year then cancel it within 14 days and get a refund ?

Can't you just get added as a named driver to his policy?

Strictly speaking, any policy should be in the name of the person with the insurable interest (the person who loses out if you crash) anyway.

I got a car on my own insurance policy as an extra for 25. It was my own car, mind.

You haven't saiid which company or companies you've tried.

But it might just be the type of car you're looking to cover which is causing issue.
