This.

The whole "mind your own business" attitude reminds me of the "You don't grass to the Police" that you get on rough estates were a few select individuals make peoples life hell.
I cannot say I'm surprised, as PH fills up with the various council estates renting the cheapest 'performance' car they can get their hands on in one of 50 shades of miserable...
I don't think this is a class thing. Every social group has their bad apples, After all this thread isn't about a poor person.

The neighbour may be from a social group that deems driving uninsured, un-MOTed and untaxed vehicles on the road acceptable. I was simply suggesting that PH is becoming more and more full of the council estates and their "Oh Emm Gee I cannot believe you would even consider snitching to the Feds man" attitude.

I wasn't going to update this thread due to all the PC mongs in it who have more of a problem with me "being nosey" than someone breaking the law but I have an update.

He was round with his car yesturday, again the plate caught my eye. I decided to do a new check on the car/plate and the car is SORN....yet he is obviously driving it around on the public highway.

Advice now or should I go shop myself to the police for using the DLVA site instead? rolleyes

Maybe you would have got a better response in the Speed, Plod and the Law forum.
You may need more interests to fill your life, but, yes he needs reporting. I wonder how many other taxes he dodges?

Not sure why all the vitriol. It sounds like his car should not be on the road, but it is. It could be an admin thing, but bearing in mind it has been a couple of months nearly now, it's more likely he is just driving an untaxed car.
Not sure if you have checked MID, but if you do and he is unisnured, i'd deffo be reporting that, it's not on to drive round uninsured.
As for the tax, well, I pay it, you pay it, why shouldn't he pay it?

I'd no different that checking or spotting someone's old tax disc was out of date, same result different media to check that's all. Even if you are being a bit of a NIMBY, IMHO, you should report it. I'd not check randomly myself, but I have checked some cars out, usually because they are being driven nobbishly, and if one was untaxed or uninsuired I'd report it. Right or wrong, it is in effect a tax and should be paid.

Advice now ...
Why do you even need others advice - do what your conscience tells you to do.

Be confident enough to make your own decisions and live with them.

and you started a thread with "So" which, since your sentence is not logically connected as a consequence of the previous one as it did not exist, means you are bit of a self important knob.

By the way, my initial "and" which I accept is not grammatically ideal refers to my post being in addition to the right royal and well justified slagging you have already received.

I'm with the OP.

I have 4 cars and go to great pains to make sure they're all taxed, tested and properly insured. Pisses me off when people don't bother. Problem is there's no real deterrent.

Guy who live near me drives with no Tax, MOT, Insurance or Licence. He buys a car and runs it till he gets nicked (parks it off road on the grass to avoid being nabbed for SORN on the street). The car generally last about 3 months until it's towed away and he's hauled off in a police car. Several days later another £200 banger is parked on the grass. Last one had gaffe tape for glass in all the rear side windows.

This has been going on for nearly 2 years. I dread the day he smacks into one of my cars.

OP why not grow a bread or something productive instead of fretting about an old biff in a Z3?
YEAH! what he said...go and grow some bread!

(I just love picking up new phrases the kidz use on the streetz - can't wait to use it to someone's face)

Anyway, you've checked it once and got a lot of feedback, you've checked it twice now, and I'd imagine the results will be the same.
Angry keyboard warriors will tell you off for being a nosey weirdo
Sensible types will wonder quite why you went to such length but now having these facts to hand should act on them, either by a chat with his mate/the owner, or by a secret anon phone chat.

It's 50/50 of course....so you're no further forward if you can't exercise your own instinct.

I would call it in myself. If it hasn't got an MOT, and the brake lines are a bit iffy, or the tyres are crap, then it could be a hazard. Some things can't be replaced. For the 5 minutes it would take.......

I have done it before as well. I MOT'd a car (already expired), it failed big style, owner said oh well, I'll sort it eventually.
