Cars types or manufacturers you would never purchase.

There's no brands I wouldn't buy just because of the brand, although there's plenty which currently produce no cars which I'd ever buy.
Same here, its ridiculous to rule out a car purely because of the badge of the bonnet!mp3manager said:
Anything German, as it's just funding Nazism.
Not sure if satire.I try not to make broad generalisations about cars but I've honestly never seen a Vauxhall that came remotely close to stirring my loins. They're just uniformly meh.
Otherwise I'd probably consider most brands.
Aldi.
for engineering & packaging reasons. They've dumbed down the car to a transportation device;
- no brake feel. for sure they brake to a stop very well, but that's not the point.
- no steering feel
- hard suspension 'because sporty'. er no, just bad suspension.
- engines way too far forward. hideous balance
They've built their cars very well according to their spec. They're target market is just not me.

Anything Japanese or French or Swedish, I'd make an exception for the LFA but that's it! (that's not to say they don't make good cars of course they do)
Although in the past I've had Japanese and French cars I didn't buy them, more that they were thrust upon me at work, so they don't count.

I love the French hate, have these people actually owned and lived with one?
My Renaultsports were the most reliable of any cars I've owned, my wife's old 206 GTI also didn't put a foot wrong in 2 1/2 years..
I've since replaced her 2013 Ibiza VAG with a New Clio, it's a better car in every way, and cheaper.

I wouldn't own a French car as a daily. Missus owns a 207cc, hilarious quality of the interior. Randomly going into limp mode (now fixed-ish), and a healthy appetite for oil. She also got the one with the silly big wheels meaning it is crashy over the bumps. She likes it though (she thinks it's sporty and chic).
Also test drove a Clio 172 which had similar interior quality issues. Might make an exception for a very early 2CV.
Most Mercs leave me pretty uninspired, as do BMW (except for 5 series). Same with VAG with a few exceptions.

I'm extremely self-limiting!
If we are talking new-ish, I can't currently conceive buying:
- Anything Asian apart from Japanese (and not many of them!)
- Anything with a boot rather than a hatch
- Anything diesel
- Anything made by General Motors
- Anything made by Peugeot/Citroen
- Anything made by Volvo
- Anything under 300 bhp
Which doesn't leave a huge amount.
Luckily I'm not currently looking!

Ford - unlikely
Vauxhall - unlikely
Saab - not unless it was pre GM and even then I'm not sure.
Lada - never
Dacia - never
FSO - never
Peugeot - unlikely
Renault - unlikely
I would happily buy a Volvo as I had an excellent T5 in the past and it was one of the best cars I've had for reliability and comfort.
