Rapier 30 ANPR cameras with IR illumination.

This is the latest model

Parking enforcement.

Probably belongs to these people ... from the number plate.

who do this

Scanning number plates with either a fixed or mobile ANPR solution, RingGo’s Advanced Digital Parking alerts patrolling officers to vehicles that need checking for payment. The improvement in speed and efficiency from this, as opposed to checking every windscreen for a ticket, is substantial.

When you approached it, did it say, "Number 5 alive!"?

^ Top result.

OP I'd report that car for obstruction or blank out the window. Far to many snoops these days out to make a fast buck.

It sits around a lot, has only done about 800 miles in the last year according to the MOT history. In fact it looks like it's been sitting around for several years based on mileage.

It's stalking and filming plates.

Put a black bin bag over the camera and film whoever turns up to remove it

I think I may report it as an abandoned car to the BiB if it ain't gone next week. It's a single track track with 2 way traffic and the less cars blocking it up the better.

Looks like the cameras are held to the roof rack by a single bolt. It would be a pity if somehow they were to get twisted around and end up pointing at the hedge, no?? ;-)

Get naked, put a mask on and strap a pair of number plates to your back and chest and keep running past it.

Haha, funnily enough I did think about doing that today, not naked, but I could get a bunch of made up plates "ba11 bags" "be11 3nd" etc. Etc. And walk past with them attached to my arse! smile

In all seriousness, I'm really not bothered by its presence, or ANPR checking for traffic flow or tax/insurance Dodgers, really was just curious about what the hell it is! smile

There was a police car abandoned outside my old flat for a few weeks. After a week I'd had enough as parking was a nightmare, so called it in to BiB, giving them the make, model and registration number then when asked colour "White, with blue and yellow stickers saying POLICE down the side". They weren't impressed :rolleyes", but the car did eventually get removed.
