I wondered how long this thread would take to descend into a forwards/backwards facing debate, it always seems to be the same posters kicking it off rolleyes

It would be safer for all passengers to travel facing rearwards, likewise on aeroplanes, but other factors like comfort and practically also need to be weighed up. Different people have different priorities, and reach their own conclusion, so there's no need to preach/argue.
It's central to the subject matter at hand so no wonder really that it comes up every time - UK Gov are, as usual, putting commerce first on this subject and the less informed are being let down.

Then we get the usual muppetry about how "darling Cressida doesn't like it, so I chose the safety equipment based on some non-existent whinging"...

This sort of reasoning is risible I'm afraid.

Another vote for the recaro young sport. We have had ours for 4 years and its been through the wars with sick etc etc - its still looking good as you can remove all the covers and wash them, and houses our 5 year old well still. She loves it. Plus its recaro so natrually looks cool biggrin Well worth the money.

So a child's comfort is of no concern at all? People do manage to survive with forward facing seats, and don't get their children taken away from them...

OP, I recently got a Britax seat that can go in both directions so you can enjoy the added safety benefits of rear facing, but change it round if necessary. Just don't mention it on here!

I think you've done this already, but best to visit a few shops and try a few different ones. Halfords were actually very helpful with us, we looked at a seat that went from birth to about 12 years old, but the 4+ configuration wouldn't actually work in my wife's car. Very good with suggesting better (and cheaper!) alternatives.

Also, do you have friends in a similar position with seats you could look at or try? We've found them a lot more useful with baby type advice than a stranger on the internet!

To be clear, it's actually imaginary discomfort that's of no concern.

Thanks for all the feedback.

We have got on joie 360 spin for now and rather than buying 2 when my daughter turns about 1.5 yrs in a few months we will pick up a slightly different seat as well for shorter runs.

We almost got caught out as some seats now have a boot or back of seat anchor strap in addition to isofix. Our A6 does not appear to have this anchor.
Thread resurrection warning!

Strath44, now being over a year after you bought your Joie 360 spin, how did your find it / are you still finding it?

Junior PG is still in her baby seat, but we are looking at getting the next seat, and I really liked how easy it was to get her in and buckled up nice and tight in the spin when we had a sales talk a little while ago.
