Anyone else had problem with Purple (fuel pump?) relay melting?
Used to just replace every 6months or so, but they're getting harder to find.

Frequently, It's mostly due to the construction of the unit (which is not just a relay).

Pull the cover off the unit and you will find it is Printed Circuit Board with an igition sensing circuit and a PCB mounted relay. The large connecting pins are soldered to the PCB, often badly. If you look very closely you will probably see cracks in the soldering around these pins. These bad connections cause heating and they will need to be re-soldered. Really a poor design as the vibrations and weight of the unit will usually cause the soldered joints to fail.
