gear stick in Corsa automatic - modification

Hi,

I wondered if anybody would know if it's possible to loosen the spring on the trigger of a Corsa automatic gear stick? I would like to buy a corsa automatic, but there's a little trigger that has to be lifted to change into reverse in this car, and the trigger is so stiff that it is causing trouble for my wrists (tendonitis-type stuff). I wondered if I could get a car mechanic to do a modification to make it must less stiff to pull the trigger?

I've never noticed any Vauxhall automatic to have a stiff action on the selector release. Could the car you are seeing be faulty?
