newish civic and I need a spare wheel but where does it go?

Hi all
Today I have purchased a 10 plate civic.lovely tidy car but all it has is an inflation kit with it.we have seen the space saver wheels and toolkit on the bay for around £100. Thing is where does the space saver live.does it go I under the flap in the boot or actually under the floor.if it helps it's a 1.8 I-vtec si ....

There is no spare wheel space.
We have a 5 year older Accord and that has no spare wheel or space saver instead the foam. It's all about weight plus the frequency of tyre failure is miniscule. Slow puncture is the most likely which is fine to deal with.
Can I ask why you want a spare wheel?

What are you going to do when that minuscule moment happens on a motorway at 3am, the tyre is a write off and you need to get somewhere on time?Note in all my years of driving only 1 time have I ever had a tyre problem which stopped me and that was a huge pothole that ripped the sidewalk from the rim.
On my BMW run flats so there will never be an issue. I'd say on the next Mrs car would opt for run flats too and then the issue you raise will be non existent.

OP, I paid £115 for a genuine new Honda one, comes with a bag to put your dirty puncture in, and even a sticker for the B post with the pressure etc...

ks it is, whatever the manufacturers may claim.The average new car now is closing on a ton and a half. There is a LOT of weight in sound-deadening and similar fripperies, easily 100kg - even before you consider what other weight gains could be made through the use of more exotic materials, or even just making the car smaller.
A space-saver plus jack weighs, what, 5kg?
It's all about cost saving. Multiply the cost of a space saver (let's say a fiver) by a million cars. Then add on the income from those that people pay £100 for as an option. Finally, subtract the pennies-per-car cost of an aerosol of bodgegoop.

RAC? I've called them out a few times near home. Once took 1.75 hours to arrive.

I've not had a car with a spare wheel since my Fiat Coupe 20VTurbo.

I'm perfectly capable of regulating my rest periods, thank you very much, but don't let that blunt your sanctimony. I've been covering 50-80,000 miles a year for fifteen years and never driven whilst fatigued.TooMany2cvs said:
