We've all got one surely, a local resident that has a great car you'd definitely be proud to own. Maybe you know them, maybe you don't. I quite like the odd mysterious car that appears several times a week driving past, but whose residence is totally unknown. Leaves a bit of mystery in this day and age of everyone showing off their cars online.

So, who's got a neighbour or local with a car that for some reason you particularly like... and have you ever spoken to them?

I'll start: There's a guy who either lives in the village, or nearby, with an E39 M5. It's got very fruity pipes and I live about 200 yards away from where the 30 become NSL. Every time he hits it you can hear him enjoying it for about half a mile, until the next 30. Sounds superb. Never seen it parked anywhere.

Someone down the road has a DB9, makes a glorious noise as it ambles out of the estate to the main road.

Not much around me apart from 75 year old Sandra in her turquoise corsa C that doesn't get above 45mph on NSL.

A few baby blue Focus RS'. But with a town population of 15,000 and at least 2 of them, it's hardly exotic. There's an M3 I see pottering about sometimes, which is about as good as it gets.

I can honestly say there's very few cars of interest in the surrounding roads to mine!

My neighbours son-in-law sometimes visits and drives a very tidy 370Z, one chap round the corner has a Skyline but it's one of those weird non-GTR ones.

Actually, there is one guy round the corner who has a few old classic type cars, couldn't tell you what they are but definitely very old.

Other than that, nothing of real interest unfortunately.

One of my ex customers who live about 3 miles from has an original Model T Ford.

Another about 5 miles away has a 1925 ish Bentley originally bought new by his Grandfather. He traced it to a guy near Brighton about 5 years ago who was using it as wedding car, and bought it back.

Several AMGs, at least 2 Ferraris, an Aston Martin, numerous RSs of various vintages, at least 1 Lamborghini - (possibly replica), and numerous high-end Porsches.
That's just on the seafront on a normal sunny day.

Not one of which I would actually want to own, mind.

Oh yeah and an R32, an R33 x 2 - at least, and a scattering of M5s and M3s of varying ages and tweaks...

My neighbour commutes to work on a Harley. Fantastic noise at 5.30am. The missus doesn't think so!

Chap at the other end of our village has a Ferrari 308 which I only ever see nosing out of his drive on dry sunny days. It looks lovely just waiting there. I keep hoping to see him fettling or polishing so that I can pop over and have a chat but he's never there. Part of me thinks he just rolls it out and rolls it back in at night.

Loads of other nice modern and classic metal around here but mostly in barns or behind closed gates.

Saturated with supercars where I live, but there are some gems.

A colleague has a 964 3.6turbo. First owner was a sultan and it has been breathed on. You hear it coming through the car park with a very lumpy idle then he boots it out in the road and it just sings. Fantastic car.

Russian guy downstairs has a brabus g wagen. I only ever see it coming in/out of the multi-storey car park for our building. I can hear it long before I see it, brutal exhaust note!

One of the Motorsport outfit owners has a Ferrari 333sp which he uses for track days. I've never attended one where he's had it out though, just driven past and heard that unforgettable music. There is simply nothing finer sounding than a N/A 90s Ferrari v12 at full chat.

The best car around here is a 3.2 litre V6 Vectra with a questionable aftermarket exhaust. You don't hear it much though, I wonder how he affords the petrol.

There's also a rotting mk1 Ford Capri under a blue bit of tarpaulin at the end of the road. I don't think it works.

Not me, but my sister in law's neighbour in Hengisbury Head, Bournemouth has a Ford GT40. I've seen it once when we were visiting, god it sounded rude smile

I've realised recently that there's actually a fair few quite exotic cars on my road, and on a couple of the roads leading off of it.

Further up my road there's an RS4 Avant.
Just around the corner, there's a house with a white 911 and a Ferrari 458 Spider on the drive, then further down that road a lovely burgundy AM Vantage (I think V8).
Somewhere there's also a red AMG C-Class, C63 I think? I don't know what house, but I hear it going off down the road most mornings (it has those awful AMG exhaust 'parps' on the upshift which make it sound like the gearbox is broken).
And another house with a MK1 MX5 track toy on the drive, which looks like great fun.

Most of the houses in the immediate vicinity to mine seem to be inhabited mainly by older couples and retirees with nothing particularly interesting on the drive, but the ones a few doors up get visited every so often by a younger guy (I guess their son) who drives a lovely blue VX220.

My next door neighbour has a convertible DB7
A chap over the road has a Lotus Excel, Lotus Europa and a racing car of some kind (there is also a TT and a Mini Cooper S in the family)
There is also a classic Bentley 1940's type (not sure what model)
An Austin Seven
And a frogeye sprite
And another chap has some 1950's yank pickups

Those are all in my street. A couple of streets over there is a 308 I see sticking it's nose out sometimes.

Do I win?

A man who lives in the same village as my mum collects ACs.

Couple of Cobras and old Aces, some really ancient looking things, and he often usues his mid 90s Ace in the summer.

Next door neighbour has a 15 plate RS6 avant.

Numerous SVO Range Rover Sports

Bright orange Aventador

458 Speziale

Dino Rally car

Lots of air-cooled pork

Someone's also got an F10 estate that sounds suspiciously like an m5.

Elvis drives a Clio v6 don't you know? Kinda fits nicely with a 'bloke who lives down the road theme'. I'm sure someone will be along to post pictures of him driving it soon....
