St. Albans here, i realty cannot think of a single interesting car in my area at all save a half decent 205 GTI a few streets away..i think everybody is too skint paying their mortgages!
Try going to the station car park - every day there are Elises, RS6s, Porsches and an M5. A couple of F Types as well. I'm surprised they take these sorts of cars to the station each day, each to their own though. Similar to the OP, I live on the edge of a village, close to where the limit changes from 30 to NSL - a local car I particularly enjoy is a yellow Exige V6, which sounds lovely as it negotiates the lanes away from the village. Another nice car I've started seeing passing by quite often is a new Corvette.

Why are you so intent on ruining a perfectly good thread?
He's waffling on about it over here too!http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I'm sure I've mentioned it before but one the neurosurgeon's who lives down the road has a Lamborghini Gallardo, whats more legendary about it is not only is it parked on the street (no off street parking available) but it's his daily.
I remember when I first saw it, bmw, ford, nissan, LAMBO, merc, toyota.....
If it's got less than 100k on the clock I'd be amazed as he's got private practices pretty far a field.
What a legend.

Just remembered one of the most interesting in the area. Chap along the road has a very good condition Lancia Thema 8.32. With numberplate F832 (or could be 832F).
Never seen anyone at it - it sits out front of the house but would love a closer look.
Is he fairly short and a snazzie dresser? Never seen anyone at it - it sits out front of the house but would love a closer look.

lol, whoever you are, please don't move near me
How would someone who points out people with low self-esteem seem to be the ones illegally modifying cars, effect the quality of your life? I like drum and bass music but I don't inflict it on neighbours or locals and certainly wouldn't understand the need for it to be heard miles away. Oh wait, that's called a troll.........
In the last few months I've spoken to a few strangers in towns 10 miles or more from my house, when out shopping for items that needed delivery. Usual salesmen discussions to try to get common ground with both asking if that was my Z4MC in the car park - and then knowing and describing exactly where I live (much to my wife's surprise and slight concern). Stay in a small village down a dead end side street. A dark blue v8 m3 and an old red xjs v12 convertible are the only other nice cars near me.
There is a certain chap nearby who I am always delighted to see out in one of his cars from the following;
Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang
Bugatti Veyron Super Sport
Mercedes 300SL gullwing (replica?)
So pleased for the guy to be out and about in them and in a sense sharing them with those without the fortunes of cash.
Slightly off topic, there is always a really neat and cared for Fiat Uno Turbo i.e. parked at work

I'm always bewildered by someone who has a £100+k car and a "normal" house. I suppose different people have different priorities for their money, but I've always gone the other way and had an extra nice home before and extra nice car. For that reason, as I'm always spending money on my upgrading home, I'll never own a REALLY expensive car; I'm having trouble talking myself into upgrading my current 6.2 C63 coupe for the new C63S.The thing was glorious and, even if it was a replica, would have been worth many multiples of the guy's 'house'. Never did get to find out the full story.
I'd wager that the running costs of that vs. a C63 S wouldn't be that different over a couple of years either, with the faster depreciation of the new Mercedes offsetting some of the running costs of the slower depreciating McLaren. It just requires a bigger cash/finance facility and a bigger set of balls!

There's a guy 2 streets from me that has one of these hidden in his garage. I've lived here for 8 years and only seen it move a couple of times.
Ford Falcon GT-HO Phase III
They were going for almost $750k a few year ago but now more in the $400k - $500k range...

Its near 'the Surrey Hills' oooh la la
Next door neighbour has a dark green 964 convertible. Lovely colour. Doesn't really get a lot of use though and he's constantly chasing problems with it.
I also spotted the other day a Yellow Caterfield hiding in a garage of one of the houses down the hill from me. I've never seen it around and about.
On the other hand there's a beautiful orange BMW 2002 in the next village over which I drive past every day - seems to be in daily use as far as I can tell

I suspect I might be "that" guy in my street. My 911SC seems to get positive attention from the neighbours and my E39 M5 gets a thumbs up from the Polish car wash guys across from my workshop. My self esteem is through the floor though and both are quite loud. The 911 because it doesn't have a catalytic converter and only a very meagre silencer. This lack of esteem extends further to my M5 where the center silencers have been removed and the glorious sound of the 5l V8 now means we'll all be cycling to Starbucks by the end of the year.
I can't wait to get a really whiney motor fitted to my Tesla in 20 years. Until then, the party's over guys; Brewster fked it up for everyone.
