Bloke across road has a garage which is forever closed. Neighbours and friend have confirmed he has a DB9 in it. I have never seen it frown

There is a bloke at the south end of my village who apparently has an F40 in his garage. I've only ever seen his F355, which is still a canny sight. There was once an F430 Scuderia parked outside the village shop, I wonder if it was something to do with him.

Someone else on my estate had a green 993 Turbo, but he ended up getting rid of it for a new Carrera, just before 993 values went sky high.

A chap across the road has a Cayman GTS, which sounds even better that the Jag XKR he used to own.

A serial M3 owner round the corner now has a Sakhir Orange F30 M3. I hear him rag it up the street beside me as it has high walls either side which make it sound even better!

Makes a nice change to the vanilla golfs and ubiquitous minis that surround us...

I occasionally see a chap that lives just down the road burbling past in a Morgan V-8, sounds lovely.

Just up the road a friend has a highly-modified Jeep Wrangler that he's transplanting a Merc 5 cylinder diesel in to - he reckons he'll get it 250+bhp easily.

Some other interesting stuff scattered about - mostly agricultural - old grey Fergie's, John Deere's and Series Land Rovers.

I don't mean to sound like a dick but (there's a red warning flag going up!) I think I'm the bloke in my locality.

Well, I've seen a red V8 Audi R8 which I personally am indifferent towards but understand others may like, but that really is about it. The nearest cars of any interest to me are owned by two people I do know - one 3 miles away has a Mev Rocket kit car, and another I've known since I was a teenager lives 5 miles away had has a TVR Chimaera 500 and a Tuscan S.
hehe same here. There isn't anything on my street/estate that comes close to my Mustang GT in terms of nice noise and different looks (that I know of).

A chap round the corner had an Audi RS6 (V10 twin turbo) but he moved away recently. He sold that (for a profit) and now owns a Focus RS Mk1 and Mk3. I still wouldn't personally swap the Mustang for any of the cars he had/has, well OK maybe for the RS6 or Focus RS Mk3 but only so I could sell it, buy another Mustang and pocket the substantial amount of change.

Our road is mainly diesels (mainly all in black as well), SUVs and crossovers, however one neighbour has a Westfield, a Heally and a Triumph Herald, there is a six series convertible that gets changed each year, not petrolhead I dont think, more bling as its a diesel. A Boxster has appeared, oh and an M4, another neighbour has Focus and Fiesta ST's in the same blue. One neighbour went from an S Class to an MX5 mk2, talk about opposites.

There's a guy just past my village and I'm certain he has two Audi Quattros, the one I've seen most often seems and sounds pretty standard but the other one I've seen heading the same way sounded a long way from it. In fact it sounded like an absolute beast. I've seen one of them outside their garage and another time in the garage about 4 feet in the air, obviously got a lift in there but couldn't spot if there was one above, one below. Always brings a smile seeing it/them out and about.

Lots of nice cars near me, but I live in a very affluent area- lots of Ferraris, a couple of Lambos i can think of, and Porsches are as common as Fords... The one car that stands out (from the next village) though, is a bright orange TVR Sagaris. The reason it stands out (aside from the lurid, most excellent colour) is that it is LHD and fully road registered- I live in Switzerland. I can't begin to imagine how much red tape, bureaucracy and conformity certificates that must have taken, not to mention an enormous cost.

There can't be more than a handful of LHD Sagaris' in the whole of Europe. Would love to know exactly how many.

Edited to add: Some more info on this thread: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
I've seen hinm driving and can confirm he's a young bloke. Good on him!

On the way back from the station (200m):
Green mk2 jag
Ex MP brown swb landrover lightweight
Green daimler 250, blue rover p5b, blue rover p6 2000 (usually 2 out of these three)
and there's a chap restoring a daimler sp250.
I used to add a triumph herald 13/60 conv and a mk 1 triumph vitesse 2ltr.
I'd have the p5b. It's glorious

One evening about a year ago I was walking back from the local chip shop (to continue a theme) with my Dad in his village, when I heard an engine sound behind me which seemed to be a bit incongruous with the surroundings.

I looked back to see an orange McLaren P1 passing through in the twilight. The owner also has a brace of Astons as well as the usual high-end German fare...

I'm always bewildered by someone who has a £100+k car and a "normal" house. I suppose different people have different priorities for their money, but I've always gone the other way and had an extra nice home before and extra nice car. For that reason, as I'm always spending money on my upgrading home, I'll never own a REALLY expensive car; I'm having trouble talking myself into upgrading my current 6.2 C63 coupe for the new C63S.

Not very PH, but an exneighbour of ours had a sixties pagoda Merc SL (nice) and a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Covertible (ghastly) with the 500 cubic inch (8.2 litre) V8 and front wheel drive! Only 235 bhp from all those cubes and a double digit mpg was a huge achievement.

If you want to see cool cars in your area nip to harependon at the weekend cars I have seen there include, F50, Enzo, Carera GT, Bently GT, Mulsan, Rolls Royce Phantom, Lots of 911, other V8 Ferrari's, TVR's or all sorts etc its like chock full of high end metal.

In St Albans you need to live in certain streets to have that sort of car (I lived there as a child an everyone knew a certain road in the town was home to Spice Girl, Actors, Footballers etc - I wont name it on here but it was near the petrol station I worked in as a teen so saw lots of cool cars).

I now live on edge of WGC and my estate....zero cool cars at moment but when I moved in ten years ago guy in house behind me had a noble he used to commute to work in every day 7am. before I had kids loved the sound it made though I think most people hated it.

However, chap just up the road now appears to have a black R8 Convertible.

Someone near me has a Berkeley 3-wheeler. It makes a noise like a tin of wasps and emits blue smoke like a lawnmower. Children point when they see it. It looks like it has become detached from a 70's fairground attraction. The rest of local traffic is unremarkable apart from the summer Chav sounds and excess speed. There used to be a Talbot Sunbeam Ti in a nearby council garage that the owner raced. He swapped it for a Westfield then sadly emigrated. He must have thrashed the Westfield as a lot of oil and some chunks of cast aluminium appeared in front of the garage one weekend.

A guy near me owns a chrome-wrapped McLaren P1 & Aventador, as well as a Rangey SVR. All 3 make a rather nice noise going past occasionally, particularly the P1..

We've all got one surely, a local resident that has a great car you'd definitely be proud to own. Maybe you know them, maybe you don't. I quite like the odd mysterious car that appears several times a week driving past, but whose residence is totally unknown. Leaves a bit of mystery in this day and age of everyone showing off their cars online.

So, who's got a neighbour or local with a car that for some reason you particularly like... and have you ever spoken to them?

I'll start: There's a guy who either lives in the village, or nearby, with an E39 M5. It's got very fruity pipes and I live about 200 yards away from where the 30 become NSL. Every time he hits it you can hear him enjoying it for about half a mile, until the next 30. Sounds superb. Never seen it parked anywhere.
I have to say I don't admire the people with low self-esteem thinking that everyone enjoys their noise.

Your neighbour obviously wants a section 59 notice and for his MOT garage to get in trouble with DVSA
