We've all got one surely, a local resident that has a great car you'd definitely be proud to own. Maybe you know them, maybe you don't. I quite like the odd mysterious car that appears several times a week driving past, but whose residence is totally unknown. Leaves a bit of mystery in this day and age of everyone showing off their cars online.

So, who's got a neighbour or local with a car that for some reason you particularly like... and have you ever spoken to them?

I'll start: There's a guy who either lives in the village, or nearby, with an E39 M5. It's got very fruity pipes and I live about 200 yards away from where the 30 become NSL. Every time he hits it you can hear him enjoying it for about half a mile, until the next 30. Sounds superb. Never seen it parked anywhere.
I have to say I don't admire the people with low self-esteem thinking that everyone enjoys their noise.

Your neighbour obviously wants a section 59 notice and for his MOT garage to get in trouble with DVSA

Just moved house, to a perfectly ordinary neighbourhood, and my new next-door neighbour has an F-Type S Convertible for day-to-day use... and a TVR Sagaris for weekends. I know it's for weekends, because the engine wakes me up every Saturday.

Do you think the majority of neighbourhoods enjoy loud modified pipes ?

roll your eyes all you want, illegal behaviour brings forward the end of car modding altogether like in France and Italy . UK got away with it because the likes of Miltek lobbied their MP hard and he got the EU's proposal suspended. This was 2014 and originally leaked by Pistonheads to give the makers of loud exhausts a heads up. Noise pollution is the number one complaint to UK (and most european) councils

Rare visitor to next door neighbour arrives in a red 996 GT3; sounds mental, can hear it from miles away.

I'm always bewildered by someone who has a £100+k car and a "normal" house. I suppose different people have different priorities for their money, but I've always gone the other way and had an extra nice home before and extra nice car. For that reason, as I'm always spending money on my upgrading home, I'll never own a REALLY expensive car; I'm having trouble talking myself into upgrading my current 6.2 C63 coupe for the new C63S.
Are you sure this is the website for you?

You sound as thick as st. It should go without saying that people with low self-esteem fitting loud pipes and inflicting on the majority every day are not exactly 'life and souls of parties'

I had very little time to party. Ex motocrosser and Kart racer where our noise activity was strictly monitored like it is at say the Goodwood festival of speed.
Noisy pipes lose rights is what they say, and it's true.

Maybe he's not from the UK. Look at people who post car pics from mainland Europe, they have much nicer houses by default. Britain has the ugliest, cheapest built, smallest houses in Europe. Even big self builds look tacky, or those horrible faux Georgian styles footballers live in.

A guy at the top of the estate has a white, 65 reg Monaro VXR8 which he has just bought to replace an earlier, similar model with a solenoid valved exhaust. Give him his due, he used to wait until he got on the main road before opening up the exhaust, but you could hear it for about 3 miles as he took off! (I'm sure you're reading this Paul with the personal plate). This new one is very quiet, almost boring.

Simple pleasures, but just around the corner on my estate an old fella has an original 1960 Austin Seven Mini in farina grey. He often goes out in the Summer to car shows with his wife and I can hear him coming from two roads away as the old four-blade fan whirrs around.

We did have a guy living in the same house as the Monaro some years ago who had a very nice red Viper.

Mclaren special operations is just down the road from me. Normally see some tasty stuff in and out of there. Nothing too interesting where I currently live, but the Girlfriend lives in Lyne in Surrey, where you'll see a few Bentleys, Range Rovers, a Rolls Royce and a 458 alongside your porkers and German rep mobiles. Don't see many RS5's though... http://www.getsurrey.co.uk/news/local-news/audi-sp...

How would someone who points out people with low self-esteem seem to be the ones illegally modifying cars, effect the quality of your life? I like drum and bass music but I don't inflict it on neighbours or locals and certainly wouldn't understand the need for it to be heard miles away.

Leaving the village I see an evil shape coming towards me out the gloom - well bügger me...it was a lime green Lambo...reg FJB 1.
This was an Aventador and the bloke is some foodie magnante that lives in our Surrey village.
I didn't stop laughing for about five miles.

There is absolutely nothing in my road of interest, it's all financed white goods such as Fiestas, SUV things and Fiat 500s etc. Someone did come round once visiting someone else, they brought with them a '65 Plymouth GTO which sounded epic...

The next road along the most interesting thing is a yellow Nissan Puke with some stupid tribal stickers on it.. yeah, this area is dull. Infact someone does have a proper Mini Cooper Sport (Not a BINI), nice sounding pipes on it with a Union Jack roof, so that's probably the best car around here..
