I'm a Porsche fan, but if you want a fast family car with great traction, German plastics, more space, then surely a Golf R estate at half the price makes more sense. Probably similar performance due to weight advantage and I suspect better equipped as standard.
You assume that all car buying processes are rational, considered and contain an element of cost benefit analysis Harry H said:
70 grand for a mid sized SUV that won't get you anywhere quicker than a Nissan Micra with todays traffic. Who on earth buys these things ?
Me for one ! Out of GT4 in Nov / Dec into one of these for the winter , then hopefully back into a GT3 Gen 2 late Spring . Residuals will be rock solid . Very likely wont lose a penny on it , so 4 to 5 months free- ish motoring in 440BHP capable car while the roads are wet and greasy . Would probably cost me more to buy a Micra , get it MOT 'd , buy tyres etc etc
Ref traffic I'm up in rural Northumberland, no traffic problems up here ...........

I have just test driven a well specced GTS, after driving the Macan Diesel S.
The car is rock solid, very well built and extremely comfortable, certainly better than any 4x4 I have been in. I defy anyone to find anything wrong with the car. The built integrity is impeccable, the suspension filters perfectly, the ownership proposition second to none. It basically represents the same kind of qualitative set-up from the Ford / French / South Korean cars to the German Audi/BMW/Mercedes. The price differential is not immense, specifically at the bottom end, hence why it sells so well.
The downside is that being so heavy the GTS engine does not behave the way one would hope.
Horses for courses, if you want real power the Turbo I suspect barely delivers and the performance pack does better, the GTS does not (but you get the feeling of sportiness). Porsche has zero-ed in and segmented their client base so much that it offer every option under the sun in order to capture as much as possible our dollars.

Yep. My wife got one on a weekend test drive, and it's hard to find fault with it for what it is,
Another level of quality over Golf R (which was alternative) safe, good to drive, easy access and visibility with kids, and feels rock solid. Also, she will make full use of the 4WD, with winter tyres in Alps for a couple of months over the winter.
As a result of all that, her GTS is coming in December. I'm looking forward to it as well!
Personally, I think it looks good as well (whereas I don't like the Cayenne at all).

Saw a macan on Friday, was quite shocked to see it still had halogen headlights, surely on a £60k plus car at least bi xenons if not LED should be standard.
Because, I guess, you can spec them ( at a substantial cost of course..... )Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
