They had a SONG made?
Really?!
I am constantly amazed at the total guff that marketing professionals come up with. Some marketing guy pitched a campaign to Skoda / VAG that included having a song written and got paid money for doing it. A VAG guy in marketing thought that was a good idea.
What a bunch of berks.
Anyway. As you were.
I seem to remember Peugeot had a song made for the then new 309, my dad came home with the tape when he worked at the local dealership and went to Coventry for the unveiling. I was 10 years old at the time and even then i found it cringeworthy.Really?!

Yeah, I own a Skoda. If you're going for a family runaround, estate car or whatever bog standard daily driver, they are effective drivers' cars. The design won't set the world on fire, the price won't destroy your bank balance and you can do five hundred miles in a day without crippling your back. We sold our last one (still running) at 170,000 miles on the clock. In that distance the interior withstood two kids growing from 0 to 10 years without a rip or break. The ergonomics are excellent and stuff like the auto lane control make me laugh at Teslas.
So, yes it's not a car you track or show off to your friends or get admiring glances with. It's the one you take your family on holiday in, that you use to drive your track car to the track, that your wife drives when she has to rescue you because your more interesting car has broken down somewhere on the A14.

What about the Yeti?
The 4x4 is a seriously capable machine.
The Yeti at least is a slightly interesting design with a few distinctive styling touches. This new lump thing is just dull dull dull (but, as others have said, will probably sell well)."Skoda's joined the SUV set"

This is a styling exercise. Nothing more.
Don't hate it. Don't particularly like it. As is typical with any VAG product these days t delivers what it's supposed to with minimal character or excitement, which is a shame as I really like the Yeti.
Also, why would you choose white for your launch car? Their not even trying any more

Not seeing the hate myself, I'll add it to the list for my Touareg replacement, assuming it remains competively priced and doesn't move out of its segment.
Agree. I think it's a handsome machine and a definite prospect for a family mover which we badly need. That is a statement I never thought I would make regarding a Skoda.I'll be checking the lease prices on these, the Ateca and the Tiguan in a year or so's time. Tiguans have generally been pretty good value on PCH, hopefully these will be even better. Sure, it's not going to set the world (or your trousers) on fire, but given the state of most of the roads on my commute, and the lack of interest the local authority has in maintaining them, I need an SUV: this promises to be economical, reliable and well-equipped, so why not?

I initially liked my Octy estate, like Dans, and now love it, does everything it says on the tin.
Would I have one of these?
Yep, I'd give it a try. Not as flash or shouty as an Audi, not as moribund as a VW, suits me fine, although I'm sure I'd go for a cheeky remap....
Launch-wise, I really think the Skoda side of VAG need to re-deploy thier PR or Marketing team, as the Kodiak allusion, complete with bear sounds (are those piped synthetically into the arena, like some of their cars do?) is truly cringeworthy, and the choice of colour just begged for comparisons with fridges, freezers etc.
Personally, I think a launch like this has absolutely no relevance in today's world, a syncopated, synthesised and sterilised show that tells us nothing more than a damn good internet show and extended press drives could.
Besides which, I subscribe to the old fashioned 'order a brochure, book a test drive' approach, never fails for me...

Also, I think you'll find it's a production vehicle, not just a styling exercise!
I quite like it. Guess people dont appreciate how difficult designing a car is, I mean to look different and appealing at the same time.
You can imagine my shock when i discovered 70% of gearboxes worldwide are made by the same company, from Renault to Ferraris, same goes for other components and why wouldnt they look the same ?

I like it. I wouldn't buy one myself but it's much better looking than the Discovery Sport. I really can't get to grips with the styling of that.
Actually any current Land Rover models I think are spoiled by the grilles they have - that started on the first Range Rover Supercharged and Sport and are now on the entire range.

Looks decent to me, not a fan of the white.
If they make one in the world rally green my Octy VRS is in then it may well replace it as the dog carrier in a couple years if the lease price is similar.
Even better if they could make it with the 280-300bhp TFSI and AWD
Please do VRS model Skoda!!

Do I wish these big SUVs had 3.0 litre six cylinder engines? Of course! Is it going to happen? Nope.
Plenty do, surely? Especially if you don't mind diesel. Macan, Audi Q5, F-PaceAnd of course, this V10 bad boy if you can find/fund one: http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/volkswagen/tou...
Kodiaq won't because it's MQB which is for transverse engines. No Transverse V6's in any VAG vehicles AFAIK.

Never going to happen. Volvo only offer 2.0 litre engines with the XC90 and even Range Rover offer a 2.0d in the Sport now.

My 2.0 Petrol Skoda makes more torque than a 3.7 V6 Nissan 370z , dont know why you would want a bigger engine when similar power/torque can be made with smaller engines nowadays Do I wish these big SUVs had 3.0 litre six cylinder engines? Of course! Is it going to happen? Nope.
