See that sort of thing quite often on eBay. Think it might be some sort of tactic sellers use when they haven't got any stock to "hold" the listing - maybe so it comes higher up the search results or something

True. I once had a seller telling me exactly that.

What I also hate is when an item looks nicely priced, cheaper than you'd expect, only to find out shipping is €500 instead of €10.
