Aside from being a bit crude, are there any issues with these? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...

No experience of the Nissan Z, I bought a BMW Z instead:-

OEM clutch can be a little weak, but not a major issue to be honest. Some cars can suffer from a 'clicking' axle. That seems to be due to insufficient lubrication to the inner edge of the axle splins and collar. Pretty quick and relatively easily sorted.

If fitted with a BOSE sound system, the CDcan skip and stutter. Sat Nav is not particularly fantastic, bit basic, but will do. Pretty bullet proof other than that, in all honesty.

More of a GT not a sports car, if truth be told. Good fun to drive, nice and agricultural, makes you work to get the best from it. Remind yourself that it's a Nissan and not a Porsche / BMW and then you'll appreciate what good value for money it is.

I had a drive of a brand new one when they first came out. I remember it felt fast...in a somehow brutish way and hence did have some character.

I think the BMW Z4 is a good comparison/competitor...and I bought a Z4 3.0Si Roadster a couple of years ago too.

Interestingly, my Z4 (and apparently it's quite common) has the same axle 'click' for the same reasons as given above and is going in to have this sorted in the same way.

350Z is a very solid, muscular thing. They weigh quite a lot IIRC so it is a pretty old school driving experience but it is a great engine and it is a pretty chunky gear change.

I tested a load of them alongside the usual Boxster and S2000 competitors and it was close decision between the beef of the Nissan and the overall feel of the Porsche I eventually went with.

I might have a look at one now though!

Thankyou all for the feedback on the 350z. I do rather fancy one as a change and I don't need a feel everything sports car, but fancy going back to a manual GT.

How about the interior on this: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C792910

Ye olde english white coachwork, slaughterhouse red interior, recaro seats and a V12 powerplant; retro-perfection.

Whereas I'm thinking how much an all-Jag fleet can be justified.

I want that car soooo much.

This looks great but I've always been put off the V12 XJS because of the ancient three speed slusher. My V12 X305 had a 4 speed autobox like the later 6.0 XJ-S and even that felt like it ate a third of the engines power output. Is the 3 speeder not that big a handicap?

No.

It provides a very pleasant GT cruiser experience. The XJ-S is a superb GT car. It's not as rapid as you might expect from 330bhp, but being silent and not changing gear gives an astonishingly relaxing ride.

It's a turbine like delivery. And until you've driven one that sounds like marketing bks.

We absolutely love ours. And I'm sure that ultimately it won't be the only V12 Jag on the fleet.

I always find myself drawn to the later 6.0 cars with the 4 speed GM box.

Is that 4-speed GM the same one that was used in Volvos, married to the 6 cyclinder petrols, and which developed a thoroughly bad rep? Suspect not, but worth asking the Q
