Yep. A long-stroke 2.7 with cam lift and timing designed to optimise the bottom end and midrange (ISTR peak power was at just 4,500 rpm), and a low internal friction bottom end. The engine was combined with what by the standards of a 520i of the time was starship gearing, and skinny high profile tyres to reduce drag. It worked quite well, being relaxed, quiet and relatively economical especially on the motorway where the high gearing could really go to work. But it wasn't really the keen driver's choice.

So setting myself up to get shot down!

I think it is interesting, may become a classic (I hope), is a bit retro with an N/A straight 6 petrol engine, will never be a barge but was in budget this May.

Two that have caught my eye tonight, both from the same dealer. Good job I'm not on the lash, or I might be making viewing plans for both.

I love this.

The car he's offloading is the least interesting of those he's got!
Perhaps. But it is probably the best version of the Accord Type-Rs
.
Also the only one of the three within thread budget.
A mint low mile one of those is a very safe place to put some money. Unfortunately the mot history check shows a 'severe' oil leak. May be something simple, but would need evidence of it being fixed at that money.

This is my Accord Type R and there is no oil leak at all. I Purchased the ATR just after the MOT on 17th September. It went straight to my mechanic and had a full check over and full service, a new cambelt and the bulkhead rust proofed. Since then it has been on my drive and in daily use and it has not leaked one bit. As you can see from the photo I don't own rust buckets that leak oil. I can only assume there was a leaking gasket or seal that the previous owner replaced as the car drives like brand new and is probably one of the best ATR's in the UK. I will confirm what was leaking with the previous owner.

I have been very impressed with the ATR, it handles very well and the engine has bags of character. When the Vtec comes in at 5,500 it is simply one of the best places to be and the sound is pure mechanical. I understand now why so many Elises have a Vtec engine. And all this with 5 seats, a huge boot and only 1,300 kilos. I prefer this car to my old E39 M5, its better car in every way and I honestly mean that.

However I need an automatic estate, something a bit interesting. So if anyone want's to swap for a tidy E30 325i touring or Merc 300TE (or similar) get in touch. Or I am on the lookout for an air cooled 911 and the ATR could be a deposit. If anyone has any questions about the car please get in touch via the Ebay ad. First offer over £4k and its yours, cheers.

Would something like this be a silly idea?

I've been looking for a early E500 S211 for a while, with no joy (I posted one on the smoker thread the other day, but it has the wrong interior for me).

I've just spotted this later plate E350 and it seems to have similar performance to the 500(although sadly without it being a V8).
I like the colour and it doesn't seem to be silly money. Is there anything special I should be aware of?

I really like that, and agree that the colour is fantastic.

It's late enough to have had all the upgrades and improvements and, as long as the service and MOT history checks out, looks a decent buy to me.

Get that for a figure beginning with 5 and that's hard to beat as a family proposition.

Very optimistically priced though, non?

9 grand for a 13 year old 3 series seems a lot to me, even for a cabrio.

It looks like the dealer is one of them who has all stock optimistically priced.

This is one would be nice for 8K but unfortunately it's a scam advertmad Check his other listings, Transit recovery with pics of a caravan! Lots of similar ads on eBay at the moment!

Thought £8,000 for a 911 was cheap.

There was me thinking 100% feedback was a safety net.

Should have known better frown
