I keep looking at this.

It's kind of a poor man's Lexus. (and the same colour as our Alphard - pearl white over silver)

MPH speedo? That seems odd for a Japanese market car.

Toyota Royal Saloon Crown. They really tried to get a noble link in there.

It's a sticker - they're an electronic speedometer, so can be converted to MPH with a little box of tricks between the sensor and speedo head. Same as our Alphard. Bit of a PITA when we go abroad, as I'll need to remember the speeds, stick some stickers on the dash, or rely on the sat-nav. (May set up the wife's phone to run as a speedo whilst mine does Navigation and entertainment).

This is lovely. Lifted from the RRC thread.

This one seems worth requiring about given the price:

Seems to be about half the price of comparable cars at the moment.

I know I'm a broken record wittering on about R129s and that everyone who wants one has got one and the rest don't care. Nonetheless here's one that isn't bad for the money, if the interior is in decent shape, the hood operates well and the history is substantiated.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MERCEDES-BENZ-SL-500-R12...

It's one of the well-regarded 1996-1998 models with an M119 engine and the 722.5 five speed autobox. No rotting wiring loom insulation. Doesn't have a panoramic roof and black over black is quite gangsta. But all in all his BIN price is pretty fair.

That one does look particularly lovely except for the BNP number plates. That reduces its class by at least 85%.

Every chance Maidstone = Chatham (save for the half-timbered house and general sense of Kentish calm).

A valet and some better photos and that'd be on the market in May for 10 bags IMHO, all other things being equal.

R129 'England First' edition sold overnight within the first 24 hrs of an 8 day listing.

I'm sure you'll get the chance to buy it again, just at a substantially higher price.

Erm. Another old Benz. Slightly more than a haggle over thread budget. But I like it.

I would definitely *cough* have bought that but as I was unable to check the MOT history on the Gov site I bailed!

Beautiful car.

Nowhere near 200 mph. Would be cheaper starting with a 996 Turbo.

Why would you even want a road-legal car to do that?

Not cheap, but nice very condition and looks a hoot. Within a haggle of budget.

Dull colour combination and broken rear brake light, but a SL55 AMG for 995 over budget with 71k miles. Apparently. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2016...
